The Fifth Annual BET Honors is highest-rated and most-watched ever with 2.6M total viewers

The fifth annual BET HONORS telecast was the highest rated and most watched in its franchise history on BET. According to the Nielsen Company, the Monday February 13 9:00 p.m.* premiere telecast drew in 2.6 million viewersand it garnered a 2.2 coverage rating among 2 million households. Additionally, the premiere telecast is now the #1 awards show on cable this year among adults and enjoyed double and triple-digit gains compared to all prior BET HONORS premieres.

BET Awards 2011 averages 7.7M viewers

The live premiere of the BET AWARDS ’11 on Sunday, June 26, drew 7.7 Million total viewers, making it the #1 Awards Show in Cable this year and the #2 telecast in BET history behind the BET AWARDS ‘09 honoring Michael Jackson (June 29, 2009) (NMR, Live + Same Day, 6/27). In addition, the BET AWARDS has consistently ranked among the Top 5 Cable Awards Shows every year among total viewers. The Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award, which was given to Chris Brown, received more than 2.4 Million votes by mobile text and online voting, which was a 240% increase versus 2010. This year’s show, which aired from 8:00-11:30 p.m.,* featured performances and appearances by Justin Bieber, Hosea Chanchez, Diddy-Dirty Money, Drake, Pooch Hall, Steve Harvey, Taraji P. Henson, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Tracee Ellis Ross, Malcolm Jamal Warner and Kerry Washington. In addition, the BET AWARDS ’11 RED CARPET SHOW drew in 2.7 million total viewers, while the BET AWARDS ’11 POST SHOW, garnered 3.9 million total viewers.

BET Awards 2011 Winners

vin Hart kept the crowd laughing out loud as a Hollywood House Husband during the BET AWARDS ‘11 opening act with Bobby Brown, Jermaine Dupri, Anthony Anderson, Nelly, and Nick Cannon. Chris Brown’s powerful performance medley of “She Ain’t You,” “Look at Me Now,” and “Paper Scissor Rock” illustrated just why he was named the 2011 Best Male R&B Artist, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award winner when he took to the stage in two performances collaborating with Busta Rhymes and Big Sean. Later, a precocious Justin Bieber propositioned Nicki Minaj on stage when he said, “I’m all grown up now. I turn 18 next year so…what’s up?”

BET renews The Game and Let’s Stay Together + Announces new scripted programs

Coming off of the success of its best year ever in 2010 and best quarter ever for 1Q’11, BET Networks announced that it will unveil a brand new slate of programming for BET and CENTRIC at its 2011 Upfront presentation at the Best Buy Theater in New York. During the event, BET plans to announce that it will continue its focus on original scripted content with a new sitcom, REED BETWEEN THE LINES, starring Tracee Ellis Ross and Malcolm-Jamal Warner. The Network will also unveil new scripted web originals, LENOX AVENUE and THE COME UP, and also its first ever sci-fi thriller web series, ODESSA and ASYLUM, all of which will run across all BET Digital platforms — BET.com, BET Mobile and BET On Demand. BET will also announce another season of THE GAME and a second season of LET’S STAY TOGETHER. In addition to scripted programming, BET will also introduce a new music docu-series, THE MESSAGE, which is a four part series about the music, the culture and the message of hip-hop. The Network will also bring back a number of its popular returning series and tent poles including BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, SUNDAY BEST and the BET AWARDS ’11.

The Game draws record 7.7M viewers for season four debut on BET

The CW-canceled comedy series The Game had an impressively strong debut on its new home, the cable network BET. The fourth season premiere drew a record 7.7 million viewers.

BET’s scripted night of programming broke ratings records as millions tuned in on Tuesday, January 11 to watch the hour long cable debut of THE GAME at 10:00 p.m.* and the series premiere of LET’S STAY TOGETHER at 11:00 p.m.* THE GAME was the #1 ad-supported sitcom telecast in cable TV history, garnering 7.7 million total viewers according to the Nielsen Company and was the #1 THE GAME telecast on broadcast and cable ever. The premiere also ranks as the #2 telecast in BET history among viewers (behind BET AWARDS ’09).

2010 Soul Train Awards draws 3.9M viewers

The premiere of the 2010 SOUL TRAIN AWARDS on BET and CENTRIC on Sunday, November 28, at 9:00 P.M.* drew 3.9 Million total viewers garnering a 3.18 coverage rating among 2.7 million households according to The Nielsen Company. Hosted by Oscar-nominated actors Terrence Howardand Taraji P. Henson, the 2010 SOULTRAIN AWARDS is the #1 Q410 BET telecast (among households and viewers), the #1 4Q10 cable special among women and the #1 telecast on CENTRIC for calendar year 2010.

Hope for Haiti: Global Telethon Airing Friday, January 22nd

In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, MTV Networks has put together a global telethon titled Hope for Haiti, which will air commercial-free across ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, and CMT channels in the United States and MTV Networks International, CNN International and National Geographic channels worldwide.

The telethon will air Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. George Clooney will host in Los Angeles, with Wyclef Jean in New York City and CNN’s Anderson Cooper from Haiti.
