NBC finished in first place for the evening with a 4.9/8 household rating/share and 7.42 million viewers, but was third among adults 18-49 with a 2.0/5 rating/share.

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 4.8/8 household rating/share, 7.13 million viewers and a 2.2/6 rating/share among adults 18-49.

  • 9:30 p.m.: A repeat of The New Adventures of Old Christine (5.0/8 HH rating/share, 7.38M viewers, 2.4/6 A18-49 rating/share).
  • 10:00 p.m.: And a repeat of CSI: Miami (5.1/8 HH rating/share, 7.40M viewers, 2.0/5 A18-49 rating/share) ended the night for CBS.

FOX finished in third place for the evening with a 4.0/6 household rating/share and 6.41 million viewers, but managed a stronger first place finish among adults 18-49 with a 2.5/6 rating/share.

    • Note: Last year’s season premiere of ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ aired directly after a NFL playoff game and on a Sunday.  Which explains the inflated numbers.  Because of that, I’ve included the numbers for that season’s second episode, so you can make a more fair comparison in regards to this season’s premiere numbers.

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.5/6 household rating/share and 5.24 million viewers, but fell to a last place fifth among adults 18-49 with a 1.5/4 rating/share.

  • 8:00 p.m.: The season, or perhaps series, finale of High School Musical: Get In The Picture (2.8/4 HH rating/share, 4.13M viewers, 1.1/3 A18-49 rating/share).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 1.4/2 to 2.8/4
      • Viewers – 2.07M to 4.13M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2 to 1.1/3
  • 9:00 p.m.: CMA Music Festival (3.9/6 HH rating/share, 5.79M viewers, 1.7/4 A18-49 rating/share).
    • Last week’s numbers (20/20: Hurricane Gustav Coverage):
      • Households – 2.3/4
      • Viewers – 3.22M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.9/2

The CW finished in fifth place for the evening with a 2.2/3 household rating/share and 3.20M viewers, but managed a slightly stronger fourth place finish among adults 18-49 with a 1.6/4 rating/share.
