Broadcast TV Ratings for Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Fox takes the evening,with strong outings from ‘Dance’ and ‘Lyrics’.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 4.8/9 household rating, 7.61 million viewers and a 2.9/10 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 5.0/9 [#t1]
    • Viewers – 7.82M [#1]
    • Adults 18-49 – 3.1/10 [#1]
  • 8:00-9:30 p.m.: So You Think You Can Dance? (4.9/9 HH rating, 7.68M viewers, 3.0/10 A18-49) had very, very nice weekly gains, adding 1.29 million viewers or 20%, 22% among households and 15% among adults 18-49 to lead the night overall in the demo.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.0/7 to 4.9/9
      • Viewers – 6.39M to 7.68M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 3.0/10
  • 9:30 p.m.: Don’t Forget the Lyrics! (4.7/8 HH rating, 7.40M viewers, 2.8/8 A18-49) remained fairly consistent from the week prior, down only marginally with solid retention levels off of its lead-in.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.6/8 to 4.7/8
      • Viewers – 7.38M to 7.40M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.9/8 to 2.8/8

CBS followed in second place on the evening with a 4.7/8 household rating and 6.82 million viewers, but was well back in fourth place among adults 18-49 with a 1.8/6 rating

  • Last Week:
    • Households - 5.0/9 [#t1]
    • Viewers - 7.01M [#2]
    • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6 [#t3]
  • It was business as usual for CBS with another solid evening among households and viewers.  But as is common with the network, the night skewed a little older in demo.
  • 8:00 & 8:30 p.m.: Back-to-back repeats of King of Queens (3.3/6 HH rating, 4.76M viewers, 1.4/5 A18-49 rating) and (3.3/6 HH rating, 4.84M viewers, 1.7/6 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of Criminal Minds (5.2/9 HH rating, 7.62M viewers, 1.8/6 A18-49 rating).
  • 10:00 p.m.: And lastly, a repeat of CSI: NY (5.6/10 HH rating, 8.03M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating).

ABC finished in third place for the evening with a 4.2/7 household rating, 6.44 million viewers and a 2.0/6 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 3.8/7 [#4]
    • Viewers – 5.65M [#4]
    • A18-49 – 1.9/6 [#t3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: The Next Best Thing: Who Is The Greatest Celebrity Impersonator (4.6/9 HH rating, 7.08M viewers, 2.0/7 A18-49 rating) mostly even from the week prior, but did manage a notable gain among viewers (520,000 or 8%).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.4/8 to 4.6/9
      • Viewers – 6.56M to 7.08M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/7 to 2.0/7
  • 9:00-11:00 p.m.: A two-hour edition of American Inventor (3.9/7 HH rating, 6.12M viewers, 2.0/6 A18-49 rating) was mostly unchanged from the week prior, not getting much of a benefit from the added hour.  About that added hour, as you can see from the numbers below for Traveler, this was the best performance in the time period for quite some time for ABC (10:00 p.m. numbers for American Inventor: 4.1/7 HH Rating, 6.42M Viewers, 2.2/6 A18-49 Rating).

      • Households – 4.0/7 to 3.9/7
      • Viewers – 6.11M to 6.12M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/7 to 2.0/6
    • Last week’s numbers (10:00 p.m. – Traveler – season/series finale):
      • Households – 2.7/5
      • Viewers – 3.86M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.4/4

NBC followed in fourth place on the evening with a 4.1/7 household rating and 6.35 million viewers, but managed a stronger second place finish among adults 18-49 with a 2.4/8 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 4.3/8 [#3]
    • Viewers – 6.52M [#3]
    • A18-49 – 2.5/8 [#2]
  • 8:00 & 8:30 p.m: Back-to-back repeats of Most Outrageous Moments (3.6/7 HH rating, 5.40M viewers, 1.7/6 A18-49 rating) and (3.7/7 HH rating, 5.74M viewers, 1.9/7 A18-49 rating) posted good numbers for repeats.
  • 9:00 p.m.: Last Comic Standing (4.0/7 HH rating, 6.30M viewers, 2.6/8 A18-49 rating) posted nearly identical numbers to last week, suffering only a tiny loss of viewership (-90,000 viewers or -1%).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.0/7 to 4.0/7
      • Viewers – 6.39M to 6.30M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.6/8
  • 10:00 p.m.: Dateline (4.7/8 HH rating, 7.17M viewers, 2.8/8 A18-49 rating) was also mostly even from the week prior, with a tiny gain among viewers offset from slight losses among households and most notably among adults 18-49 (-10%).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.8/9 to 4.7/8
      • Viewers – 7.16M to 7.17M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.1/9 to 2.8/8

The CW finished in fifth place for the evening with a 1.2/2 household rating, 1.73 million viewers and a 0.7/2 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 1.1/2 [#5]
    • Viewers – 1.55M [#5]
    • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2 [#5]
  • Just another barely viewed repeat filled evening for The CW.
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of America’s Next Top Model (1.2/2 HH rating, 1.72M viewers, 0.8/3 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 p.m.: Another repeat of America’s Next Top Model (1.2/2 HH rating, 1.75M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).
