With another night pretty much all to its own in regards to new programming, Fox takes the evening with ease. ‘5th Grader‘ still strong.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 13.9/21 household rating, 24.08 million total viewers and a 9.2/24 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:

    • 25.31M viewers [#1]
    • 9.9/24 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m. : American Idol (15.9/25 HH rating, 27.43M viewers, 10.3/28 A18-49 rating) remained its dominant self last night, staying relatively flat from the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 15.4/23 to 15.9/25
      • Viewers – 27.14M to 27.43M
      • Adults 18-49 – 10.4/26 to 10.3/28
  • 9:00 p.m.: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (11.9/18 HH rating, 20.73M viewers, 8.0/20 A18-49 rating) was a strong first place for the hour.  There was however some slight decline from the week prior, though its nothing too drastic and ratings are still quite high.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 13.0/20 to 11.9/18
      • Viewers – 23.48M to 20.73M
      • Adults 18-49 – 9.4/22 to 8.0/20

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 8.6/14 household rating, 13.57 million total viewers and a 4.0/11 rating among adults 18-49.

    • 4.2/11 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Survivor: Fiji (8.0/12 HH rating, 13.72M viewers, 4.5/12 A18-49 rating) took another step backward, after a slight uptick last week.  Then again, its still a solid performer for the network.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 8.5/13 to 8.0/12
      • Viewers – 14.74M to 13.72M
      • Adults 18-49 – 5.0/13 to 4.5/12
  • At 9 and 10 p.m., repeats of CSI and Shark did very well for CBS, keeping the network in second place for the evening.
  • 9:00 p.m.: The repeat of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (10.1/16 HH rating, 15.77M viewers, 4.3/11 A18-49 rating) once again was able to amazingly grown upon its new lead-in by 2.1M viewers and 26% among households.  Though the show continually gets beat by ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy when new episodes air, the results are quite different when repeat performances are added in.
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of Shark (7.6/13 HH rating, 11.32M viewers, 3.0/9 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for CBS in first place for the hour.

ABC finished in third place for the evening with a 4.9/8 household rating, 8.09 million total viewers and a 2.9/7 rating among adults 18-49.

    • 2.9/7 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • ABC continues to air an all-repeat lineup ahead of a return to new original episodes next week, repeats of:
  • 8:00 p.m.: Ugly Betty (4.3/7 HH rating, 6.15M viewers, 1.7/4 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 p.m.: Grey’s Anatomy (5.8/9 HH rating, 8.50M viewers, 3.0/7 A18-49 rating).
  • 10:00 p.m.: Men in Trees (4.8/8 HH rating, 6.57M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating) were only good enough for a third place finish for the hour.

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.3/5 household rating, 6.20 million total viewers and a 2.8/7 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 4.0/6 HH rating [#4]
    • 6.20M viewers [#4]
    • 2.8/7 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.: Repeats of My Name Is Earl (3.7/6 HH rating, 5.53M viewers, 2.3/6 A18-49 rating) and The Office (3.2/5 HH rating, 4.82M viewers, 2.2/6 A18-49 rating) were actually down some compared to their more usual repeat numbers, but they are only repeats, so you can’t really make much out of it.
  • 9:00 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.: New episodes of Scrubs (3.7/6 HH rating, 5.89M viewers, 2.8/7 A18-49 rating) and 30 Rock (3.3/5 HH rating, 5.19M viewers, 2.5/6 A18-49 rating) also were down slightly after a nice climb last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers (Scrubs):
      • Households – 4.3/6 to 3.7/6
      • Viewers – 6.80M to 5.89M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.4/8 to 2.8/7
    • Week-to-week numbers (30 Rock):
      • Households – 3.6/5 to 3.3/5
      • Viewers – 5.58M to 5.19M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.7/6 to 2.5/6
  • 10:00 p.m. & 10:30 p.m.: Additional repeats of The Office (3.2/5 HH rating, 4.94M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating) and 30 Rock (2.8/5 HH rating, 4.04M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for NBC.
    • Week-to-week time slot numbers (vs. a repeat of The Black Donnelly’s):
      • Households – 3.5/6 to 3.0/5
      • Viewers – 5.42M to 4.49M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.4/7 to 2.2/6

The CW was left then in fifth place, as it decided to air repeats, earning a 1.6/2 household rating, 2.35 million total viewers and a a 0.9/2 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Repeats of Smallville and Supernatural remained at their usual repeat levels.
  • 8:00 p.m.: Smallville Repeat (1.7/3 HH rating, 2.65M viewers, 1.0/3 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 p.m.: Supernatural Repeat (1.5/2 HH rating, 2.05M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).
