Director M. Night Shyamalan is taking a rest from his usual horror fare to write, direct and produce a live-action adaptation of the Nick TV series Avatar. CBS has unveiled its 2008 summer schedule. The schedule, heavily reality based, includes the premiere of three new reality shows, two new drama’s, a summer edition of Big Brother, the premiere of LIVE mixed martial arts events, The Tony Awards and a new edition of the AFI’s 100 Years series. After last year’s departure of Jorja Fox from the show, another actor is leaving the hit CBS procedural CSI. TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Gary Dourdan, who plays Warrick Brown on the show, is leaving a show. A precise time table for the exit hasn’t been announced. Dourdan’s contract is up at the end of next month.

As we near the release date of the Wachowski Bros. Speed Racer adaptation, more and more videos and images are being released. Today comes yet another one. Warner Bros. has released a four-minute plus featurette which you can check out here (via Yahoo!). Speed Racer hits theaters on May 9th.

After just one low-rated airing, CBS has pulled the reality show Secret Talents of the Stars. For the time being episodes of 48 Hours Mystery will fill the time period, until Shark returns from hiatus on April 29th. Secret Talents of the Stars attracted just 4.58M viewers and a 1.5/4 rating/share among adults 18-49.

Yet another actor has been cast in the upcoming George W. Bush biopic W., this time it’s former press secretary Ari Fleischer. MTV is reporting that comedian Rob Corddry (The Daily Show) has been cast in the role. Given all the attention the film has received over the past few days, it’s no surprise that an early script has been leaked. Dated October 12, 2007 (and referred to as Bush at that point) you can read Slate’s opinion of the script here. W. will hit theaters sometime in 2009.

Only recently were new pictures from the Bryan Singer-directed, Tom Cruise-starring World War II thriller Valkyrie released, but word out of MGM and United Artists this week is that the film is being moved from October 3, 2008 to President’s Day Weekend February 13, 2009. More after the jump.

The cast for Oliver Stone’s sure to be controversial biopic W. continues to fill out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, British actress Thandie Newton has signed on to portray Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, while Ion Gruffudd is in final negotiations to star as former British prime minister Tony Blair. I’ve got to hand it to Warner Bros. once again. They’ve done a terrific job with their promotion of the upcoming The Dark Knight and this video is no exception. Gotham City Assistant District Attorney Rachel Dawes (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) has publicly announced her support of Harvey Dent for Gotham City District Attorney.
