TV writer Tom Wheeler has been tapped by DreamWorks Animation to write the Shrek spinoff Puss in Boots, the studios stand-alone feature focusing on the fan favorite feline assassin/swordsman voiced by Antonia Banderas in the two most recent Shrek films.

According to DreamWorks spokesman Rich Sullivan, it appears the studio will be done with the Shrek franchise after the fifth installment.
