You know those “So easy a caveman can do it” Geico ads? Well Variety is reporting that ABC has apparently seen plenty from the short ads to decide there is enough material there to develop a comedy around.

Fox has added four more episodes of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? to its Thursday night run from 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET. The show was original scheduled to air only two episodes on Thursday, the extension now brings the total to six.

FOX hold offs the competition for another American Idol fueled evening and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? remains steady day-to-day. The CW’s returning America’s Next Top Model returns even with previous season openers to give the network a stronger than average performance, and fourth place for the evening among adults 18-49.

Though down slightly compared to last season, FOX was still able to take the week across all main categories. Helped by their telecast of this year’s Academy Awards, ABC finishes in a strong second place.
Compared to the year prior, FOX was down 3% among total households, 4% among total viewers and 8% among adults 18-49. ABC was up 16% among total households, up 16% among total viewers and up 20% among adults 18-49. CBS was up 9% among total households, up 12% among total viewers and up 5% among adults 18-49. NBC was down 55% among total households, 59% among total viewers and 54% among adults 18-49 (only because they aired the Olympics this time last year). And lastly, compared to the average of UPN and The WB last season, The CW was up 7% among total households, 11% among total viewers and 31% among adults 18-49.

All three networks were down week-to-week, but the big news was ABC surpassing NBC among total viewers and adults 25-54 (4th consecutive week for that demo). With host Katie Couric away from the chair for three days, CBS draws lowest audience ever since she took over the program.

CBS wins the evening, with the nights highest rated and most watched program (Numb3rs). The CW’s WWE Smackdown draws a very strong overall audience to pass up Fox for fourth place.

CBS takes another week among households and viewers, while American Idol (the week’s top rated show across the board) gives FOX the win for the week among the key A18-49 demographic.
Compared to the year prior, CBS was up 19% among total households, up 21% among total viewers and up 13% among adults 18-49. FOX was up 15% among total households, up 18% among total viewers and up 17% among adults 18-49. ABC was down 15% among total households, down 16% among total viewers and down 14% among adults 18-49. NBC was down 52% among total households, 52% among total viewers and 50% among adults 18-49 (only because they aired the Olympics this time last year). Compared to the average of UPN and The WB last season, The CW was up 9% among total households, 10% among total viewers and 10% among adults 18-49.

The first week after the Super Bowl saw a slight increase for CBS’s Evening News with Katie Couric, as well as for ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson (which managed to move into first place) NBC’s Nightly News with Brian Williams dipped slightly.
