Senator Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night drew over 38 million viewers (likely more than 40M when PBS and C-Span are included), an impressive feat considering it was watched by more people than watched the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics and last year’s finale of American Idol, to name a few.
The speech drew a 24.5 rating and 38.38M viewers and a 12.2 rating among adults 18-49 on ten stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo).
