Paramount is heading back to school.  The studio has greenlit a second installment of the 2003 Rock comedy, School of Rock.  Jack Black will be reprising his role as rock star wannabe/substitute teacher Dewey Finn. Richard Linklater, who directed the first film, is also set to return as is producer Scott Rudin.

Mike White, who wrote the screenplay for the original film, is penning this one as well, titled School of Rock 2: America Rocks, which according to Variety, “picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock ‘n’ roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.”

The original film cost the studio just $30 million en route to $131 million worldwide.
