“G.I. Joe” Starts Filming Today, Release Date Set for August, 2009 February 11, 2008 10:50 pm

In an Associated Press article, Hasbro revealed that G.I. Joe started shooting today, and the film has been penciled in by Paramount to hit theaters on August 7, 2009. Details after the jump.

Two Hasbro-related live-action movies are scheduled to be released in 2009 — Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe, based on the Hasbro action figure starts shooting Monday, Verrecchia said. Despite a Hollywood writers strike, there were no delays in the movies’ production schedules, he said.
Directed by Stephen Sommers from a script written by Stuart Beattie, the live-action adventure film, stars Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and David Murray.
