In an effort to generate an larger following for its new show, HBO will be streaming the first 15 episodes (of an ordered 43) online for free.  Though the network has aired free episodes before, this is the first time they’ll air so many.

The five night a week drama, a first for HBO, is about a therapist Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne) who treats a different patient four nights out of five, while the fifth night sees the character being treated by his own psychotherapist (played by Dianne Wiest).

“We knew this was going to be a huge challenge [in marketing the show], due to the large viewing commitment, so our goal was to lower potential entry barriers created by that commitment,” said Chris Spadaccini, vp, advertising, HBO.

Given the change in viewing habits, Spadaccini said the cable network is offering episodes to fit viewers’ schedules as well as to provide numerous “catch-up” possibilities.

In Treatment will be streamed online at HBO.com and via HBO On Demand.  It’ll also be available via the networks iTunes podcast channel.

In Treatment debuted Sunday, January 28th.
