Some very sad news in the world of acting today, Academy Award nominated actor Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) was found dead today in a Manhattan apartment. He was 28 years of age.
Update: An NYPD spokesman has reported that there was no “obvious indication of suicide”, and that the pills and pill bottles found at the scene were reportedly sleeping pills (one a prescription, the other over-the-counter).
Police are saying that pills that appear to be over-the-counter sleeping medication, were found near his bed. The actor was found dead at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET.
“Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed,” police spokesman Paul Browne told CNN.
“This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet.”

Ledger was unresponsive when he was found by a housekeeper who had gone to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse in the Soho apartment, Browne said.
Ledger recently finished a role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman Begins follow up The Dark Knight and was filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.Ledger leaves behind a 2 year old daughter from his relationship with Michelle Williams.
