In an interview with MTV, The Kingdom director Peter Berg confirmed a rumor that Dune is coming back and that he will be directing it. Berg told MTV that plans for him to direct are “a done deal” and that “if it weren’t for the writer’s strike, we’d be in it right now.”
Despite no script in place, Berg said that they are prepared to get started as soon as the strike is settled.
Also in the interview, Berg confirmed that he’s likely to direct Tom Cruise in his next film, which is about a CIA agent on the run after being accused of being a spy.
