Tim Burton is set to direct two upcoming 3D films, Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie.

The two picture deal with Walt Disney Begins with ‘Alice’, which will combine motion-capture, seen in the upcoming Paramount film Beowulf, with live-action footage.

Production on ‘Alice’ will begin early next year, with production set to wrap by May.  After ‘Alice, Burton will be moving straight to Frankenweenie, which is based on his 1984 short film about a pet dog brought back to life by his owner.  That film will be shot with stop-motion animation and be shown in digital 3D.
