Director Michael Mann and actor Robert De Niro, who last worked together on Heat are reteaming to make Frankie Machine through Paramount Pictures.
The film, a drama adaptation from the Don Winslow novel The Winter of Frankie Machine, is about Frank Machianno (De Niro), a mob hitman who has retired to run a bait shop. He agrees to help the son of a mob boss resolve a dispute but is pulled into his persona of Frankie Machine as he discovers he’s been set up to be killed.
