Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, who last collaborated on the award-winning film The Departed, are reuniting in the Paramount/Columbia produced film Shutter Island.

The film, an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel, will be scripted by Laeta Kalogridis and production is scheduled to begin early next year.  Production will be shared between Paramount Pictures who will handle domestic distribution and Columbia Pictures who will handle international distribution.

DiCaprio is in final talks to play (description courtesy Variety) U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels, who is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who espcaed from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.  The drama is set in 1954.

This will be the third collaboration between DiCaprio as actor and Scorcese as director (The Aviator, The Departed being the other two).
