Eric Bana has joined the cast of the J.J. Abrams Star Trek film. The actor will portray the role of a villain titled Nero.

Bana joins Anton Yelchin (Chekov), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) who’ve already been cast. The main role of Kirk still hasn’t been cast, and rumors persist on who will play Scotty (Paul McGillion (Stargate Atlantis) has confirmed he’s auditioned for the role).

Star Trek starts production this November and will be released on Christmas Day 2008.
