Well this is an interesting development from NBC. The network has revealed that are revisiting their American Gladiators remake competition show, and hoping to bring it on the air in time for the midseason.
The reality series, an update to the early ’90s syndicated show (1989-1996), will be adapted for the 21st century with new technology and twists.
From Variety’s reporting on the news:
“We’ve been circling around this property for a long time now,” said Craig Plestis, exec VP of alternative programming, development and specials at NBC Entertainment. “It’s truly what’s not in the TV landscape right now. While everyone’s zigging, I’m attracted to doing a zag.”
An episode order hasn’t been confirmed, but Variety notes that at least six episodes of the show are believed to be in the works.
