Casting is now underway for The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian, a sequel (set before) to the Mummy Returns spin-off Scorpion King. The prequel will not be starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The film will be directed by Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) and will tell the backstory of the character, including his relationship with long time love Layla. It will begin shooting in South Africa this October 1.
