“Punisher 2” Actor and Director Confirmed by Lionsgate August 1, 2007 1:19 pm

In a press release from Lionsgate, the rumored details of Levi Alexander as director and Ray Stevenson as the star have been confirmed.
Here is the relevant portion from the press release (Note: The focus of the press release is on a new four-year financing deal):
The transaction will encompass a broad range of future Lionsgate television and feature film productions in the Province of Quebec, including the planned October 2007 production of Lionsgate’s next Punisher film, starring Ray Stevenson (from HBO’s hit series Rome) and directed by Oscar ® nominee Lexi Alexander.
As you can see from the above text, production looks to be on track for an October 2007 start.
