Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix took in an impressive $12 million from Tuesday night/Wednesday midnight showings.

Screenings were held in roughly half the theaters that will be playing the fifth installment in the franchise. (2,311 theaters participated in the midnight screenings. The film began running in 4,181 theaters this morning and will expand to 4,285 this Friday).

The strong numbers bode well for a strong weekend and five day tally for the film.
