New Line Cinema and HBO are partnering up to bring the long-running hit HBO series Sex and the City to the big screen.

Variety reports that New Line is close to finishing up the deal to finance and distribute, with hopes to begin work on the film this fall. The core cast from the tv series (Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon) are all set to reprise their roles. Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the series, will be directing from a script he wrote.

The project of bringing the show to the big screen had been discussed ever since the show went off the air. A deal almost got done two years ago, but progress halted when Cattrall backed away due to salary and script control issues.

Additional casting will take place when the deal is closed.Source: Variety
