It appears the double-feature Grindhouse will be split for its DVD release.

According to Davis DVD, a release date has been set by Genius Entertainment and The Weinstein Co. for Quentin Tarantino’s segment Death Proof.  It’ll be released on DVD on September 18.  There is no word on when Robert Rodriquez’s Planet Terror will make its way to DVD.

The news isn’t surprising and supports the studio’s desires to split the film as it finishes out its theatrical run.  It’s likely the DVD release of Death Proof will be the extended version that Tarantino put together for the Cannes Film Festival.

Death Proof = Good recreation of Grade B Cinema. Entertaining.
Planet Terror = Another zombie flick. Fun and gross. Entertaining.
– Nuff said.

Why do they have to split the movie??? It’ll ruin the experience and theDVD quality won’t seem crappy like in theatres like it was intended too and will be perfect. Hopefully this won’t blow and they need to make a REAL DVD of the REAL movie with the Machate trailer first then Planet Terror then the 3 other trailers then DP in scratchy condition and then it’ll be a good DVD.
