Coming out on top in a bidding war with four other networks (TNT, TBS, USA and Spike TV), FX has landed the exclusive rights to Spider-Man 3.
The deal calls for FX to pay up to $33 million if the domestic gross rises up to $400 million or more (currently at $182.07 million). FX’s deal will run for five years.
Additionally, Sony retains the ability to sell the rights to the film to one or more of the broadcast networks for between $7 and $10 million during the five year deal. It calls for Sony to schedule three separate broadcast windows if they so desire.
