Emmy winning actor Tom Selleck is in discussions to join NBC’s Las Vegas as the leading actor.

He would play the new owner of the Montecito Resort & Casino, a spot created to fill in for the recent departure of the show’s original leading-man James Caan.

Las Vegas returns next year for its fifth season, with production set to begin soon.  The show is also seeking to add a new female character to replace the departure of Nikki Cox.

If the deal goes through, it will mark Selleck’s return to a full-time role on a drama series since Magnum, P.I.  Selleck recently completed a minor stint on the hit ABC drama/comedy Boston Legal.

I think that would be a good fit….not sure how the show is still on, but still a good fit.
