The day after NBC extended its agreement for more years of Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, CMT decided against doing the same for its Miss America pageant.
The CMT network told the Associated Press that it will not be picking up their option on “Miss America”.
This is the second time in three years the organization has been dropped (ABC did so in 2004). If CMT wanted the pageant, they had a deal set in place through the 2011 season. But after a strong debut for its first year of 3.1 million viewers, the second telecast was only able to manage 2.4 million viewers, according to numbers by Nielsen Media Research.
The Miss America organization is currently searching for a new network partner.
