Originally reported as a an unconfirmed rumor, Variety has confirmed that Maggie Gyllenhaal (Stranger Than Fiction, World Trade Center) is in final talks to join the cast of Batman: The Dark Knight (sequel to Batman Begins).
Gyllenhaal will be replacing actress Katie Holmes’ role as D.A. Rachel Dawes. Holmes dropped out of the sequel at the beginning of the year.
