NBC has renewed its drama series Las Vegas for a fifth season, though not everyone is returning.

With the 2007-08 renewal, Las Vegas becomes the fifth series on NBC to be given a new season order, joining Heroes, Law & Order: SVU, My Name Is Earl, and The Office.

Shortly after the renewal was made, word became to spread that two stars of the show who’ve been there seen the first year; James Caan and Nikki Cox, will not be returning. Caan had the following to say: “I’ve had a wonderful four years, worked with great people and made friends for life working on ‘Las Vegas. “But I’m eager to return to where my heart is, which is film, and due to the show’s schedule, I’ve missed some great opportunities to do that.”

The fourth season (which was given a shortened 17 episode order) will end March 9th.

How has this show lasted that long? It doesn’t every seem like it even breaks into the ratings…..

It originally aired on Monday nights, before the network moved it over to the tough to program Friday.

Though it was never a ratings hit (total viewers in the 10M range, adults 18-49 around the 3.0 range) it held up very well after the change from Monday to Friday and does about as well as the network can expect for the time slot it is in.

In regards to quality, I can’t comment, as I’ve never seen an entire episode of the show.
