Most people couldn’t even imagine watching their television in this day and age without the comfort of never having to get up to change the channel.
It’s a convenience we often times take for granted.
Robert Adler, co-creator of the first television remote, passed away Thursday of heart failure at a Boise nursing home. He was 93.
Working for Zenith, Adler co-created the Zenith Space Command remote control in 1956 along with fellow engineer Eugene Polley. The duo were awarded for their work in 1997 when they were awarded an Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
