“Ghost in the Shell” Live-action Remake Planned January 22, 2007 7:32 pm

Variety is reporting that cartoon house Production I.G. has acquired the rights to Ghost in the Shell from Kodansha for the purpose of making a live-action remake of the popular manga.
The production house is no stranger to the franchise, as they were responsible for the feature follow-up Innocence as well as the animated TV series titled Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Oh how I hope they don’t screw this up. That is, if it ever gets off the ground. I couldn’t bear to see the Ghost In The Shell franchise tarnished by bad movie making.
