TNT about to pick up two new series, “Saved” future in doubt December 15, 2006 2:10 am

TNT is about to pick up two new series to go along with its hit “The Closer”.

One of the shows, “Grace”, stars Holly Hunter as a burned-out cop and the other titled “Heartland”, features Treat Williams as a heart-transplant surgeon whose work is affecting his personal life.

With the two new series set to join the TNT lineup sometime in 2007, it appears that “Saved” will not be returning after only one season one the air.

“Saved,” a drama about a Portland paramedic (Tom Everett Scott), drew good ratings, but was never able to hold more than half of the audience of its lead-in “The Closer”.  TNT is commited to improve upon that performance with these two new shows.  “Heartland” appears to be the series which will get the timeslot of “Saved”.

I just can not believed that you have cancelled the series “Saved.” So many of my friends and family were avid fans of that show. The scripts and acting were just superb. It almost seems like –if it’s a good show–give it one season and then cancel it.
I’m very disappointed and your replacements for “Saved” don’t even come close.

Jessica's avatar 2. Jessica - March 22, 2007 7:12 pm

I am so very disappointed to hear that “Saved” will not be coming back on the air. The show was remarkable. It highlighted the importance and impact of EMS around the nation, rather than another show about another group of self-admiring doctors. I was really looking forward to the next season of “Saved”. It was one of a kind.

terry morris's avatar 3. terry morris - March 26, 2007 9:55 pm

i think it really suck that saved is not comeing back on i think that it was the best show and that alot of people like it it was 1 of the most watch show on tv if u wanted to cancell something take off the closer saved was a lot better

Spongelly's avatar 4. Spongelly - March 29, 2007 4:31 pm

Why would they take off Saved? Just because the leading show ahead of them has higher ratings? DUH! THEY AREN’T IN THEIR FIRST SEASON ARE THEY? They have like 2-3 years experience ahead of Saved and I think they need to bring back the show and give it another chance! Besides, how will we know what happens to Tom Everett Scott’s friend in the ambulance crash?

Are you guys Just causing Hipe ?
I think so ….

No, Saved was an excellent shows. And although I am a Holly Hunter fan , it’s no Saved. And TV doesn’t need another prime time medical soap opera. Very bad decision on TNT’s part. If you’ve never seen Saved or didn’t like it, you might want to check your pulse and IQ.

David's avatar 7. David - April 1, 2007 9:28 pm

I can’t beleive that you would take this show off the air. I am a paramedic and I enjoyed the show very much. I thought it was a pretty realistic show as to what actually happens on a daily basis as a paramedic. It was one of my favorites.

Scott's avatar 8. Scott - April 4, 2007 10:50 am

TNT, what is your problem? You have a smash hit that reflects the life of a paramedic. I am a paramedic and enjoyed the show just as much as rescue me. If it wasn’t for the fact that you run old episodes of ER, I would never watch you station. Thanks for nothing TNT.

Kathy's avatar 9. Kathy - April 4, 2007 5:01 pm

I’m very disappointed that “Saved” is not returning for another season. I would love to know why networks pay attention to so called viewer audience polls because they have never polled me or the other thousands (or who knows, maybe millions) of other fans. As for TNT’s new “Heartland”, are we supposed to have forgotten about “Everwood” already?

Ron's avatar 10. Ron - April 5, 2007 6:22 am

Mark Cuban alert: Please save ‘”Saved”, the show that TNT cancelled after only one season. If not Mark Cuban, maybe Ted Turner. I pray some other network will pick it up, USA, FX, NBC, TBS, Fox, Oxygen, Life, TV Land, Family, A&E or any super station. “Saved” was my favorite show, I am heartbroken over it being dropped. Perhaps we should boycot TNT. Please someone save ‘”Saved”.

Lisa's avatar 11. Lisa - April 9, 2007 11:37 am

I am VERY upset Saved! is not returning to TNT. What a let down. This was one of the best shows on TNT and now it is going away. It is very hard to believe. I WILL NOT be a fan of th Heartland or whatever it is called….It looks like it is going to be run off of ER. Saved was unique- I guess TNT just wants to follow instead of LEAD!

John's avatar 12. John - April 9, 2007 2:58 pm

It is obvious no one wants to do anything “out of the box”. Remember the Cosby Show and Friends were both nearly cancelled, come to think of it so was Cheers….all were very long running hits. Stop running numbers and have some passion about something for once!

christy's avatar 13. christy - April 16, 2007 9:16 pm

i was just wandering when saved would be back on. i am upset that tnt has dropped the show. i really enjoyed the show. the actors and storyline was superb. i am disappointed that the show will not be back on. i am a medical student and this show was refreshing compared to the other medical shows. i hope another network picks up the show and tnt realize what a mistake they made.!!!

melissa's avatar 14. melissa - April 28, 2007 4:53 am

I can’t believe that you are cancelling saved. I was waiting a whole year to find out what happened after last seasons finale. I am not even remotely interested in the closer or heartland, and if it were not for reruns of law and order I would not even watch tnt. Thanks for nothing. You’ve made a big mistake.

Veronica's avatar 15. Veronica - May 3, 2007 8:56 pm

It just goes to show, with all the responses here, and all the people that I know that were watching this show who are disappointed-the networks don’t care what we think. Saved was a great show, for the first time, a medical show that wasn’t based in a fire department or a hospital. The show was exciting, and it kept you wanting more. I don’t watch TNT for any other show, and it looks like I won’t be watching it any time soon again. Thanks for nothing.

J- Thomas's avatar 16. J- Thomas - May 11, 2007 9:54 pm

Wow! I’m so glad to see that my husband and I are not alone in are feelings about Saved not being picked up for another season! It is really sad because it was a great show. Sadly to say TNT will be losing us as viewers altogether because of this stupid choice. Maybe some other statione WILL get smart and pick it up. We can only hope!

Geneva's avatar 17. Geneva - May 12, 2007 2:14 pm

I too can’t believe that my favorite show from last year has been cancelled. I loved Saved and was a faithful watcher! Besides being a Tom Everett Scott fan, I was so into the story line of the show. Now, I’m left in limbo with not knowing what was going to happen to the characters on Saved. Very disappointed…I hope TNT will rethink their decision and add TNT back on.

Dustin Langley's avatar 18. Dustin Langley - May 14, 2007 11:26 pm

TNT you suck and I will never watch another show on your network. You will never know if you get into another series and they may decide to cancel that one as well so what’s the point in waistin my time and energy getting into another show. Whatever, you leave your viewers hanging with Wyatt holding his best friend yelling for someone to call 9-1-1 who does that? Sorry TNT but unless you bring back saved I will never watch another show on your network.

tc's avatar 19. tc - May 15, 2007 8:01 am

I feel the same way as all of the other viewers. Instead of staying with something new and fresh, you go to the old boring standby. Get a clue! Don’t be surprised if the new shows tank, you took the only good viewing program off the air. And for what??

Michael Kinney's avatar 20. Michael Kinney - May 15, 2007 4:13 pm

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I can’ t believe SAVED has been cancelled. TNT, you need to reconsider picking the show back up. I am a paramedic of 16 years and SAVED was so realistic to how it in EMS. If not TNT, please another network needs to pick the show back up.

Mike J Hargrave's avatar 21. Mike J Hargrave - May 16, 2007 4:05 pm

I loved the show Saved! Only one season??? What is wrong with TNT??? Please get it back on! I was waiting for the new season and now I find this thread and Saved is gone??? Come on guys!

I am very disappointed that Saved is not returning to TNT. My son is a paramedic so that’s what got me interested in the show. I love the main character. TNT, I’m sick of all the old Law and Order shows. I will be watching The Closer and that’s about it. Bring back Saved! I want to see what happens.

T Lawrence's avatar 23. T Lawrence - May 27, 2007 1:07 pm

Bring SAVED Back!!! We really enjoyed this show, and I only watched The Closer because it came on before SAVED. I am disappointed it will not be back in the TNT lineup.

As for the replacement show, Heartland, I truly like Treat Williams, but after watching the preview videos ,the story line seems all too familiar. His character is the same as his Everwood character, a brilliant surgeon (heart now instead of brain), but his personal life suffers as a result…not a new exciting concept. I hope you can spice up the storyline, or it will end up like Everwood…gone…

Matt's avatar 24. Matt - May 28, 2007 5:45 am

Tnt should pick up Jericho!!! that would make everyone happy!! because CBS is NUTS!!!!

melissa's avatar 25. melissa - May 31, 2007 7:39 am

Bring saved back. It was great! I am very disappointed. I’m an avid watcher of the closer, but I Tivo everything, so I don’t watch what is before or after something I love just because I don’t change the channel. I have never and will never watch Heartland. Doesn’t interest me at all.

Why would you get rid of a show that is obviously loved by all. I watch the closer but if i want to see another hospital show repeat I will just watch ER again. PLEASE bring Saved back!!!!!!

DMB's avatar 28. DMB - June 5, 2007 9:54 am

Saved! is a great show. Apparently there is not enough room on TNT for four good shows. Bring back SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gwen's avatar 29. Gwen - June 7, 2007 3:19 pm

Saved was one of the best shows on TV! What is wrong with you people? You just keep playing old reruns or add shows that mimic other boring story lines and formats………I have seen several really excellent shows just let go and a bunch of garbage brought in in their place…..The only show I will watch on your channel now is The Closer…….and to heck with the rest of the trash! As several people above have stated, thanks for nothing!

BWB's avatar 30. BWB - June 8, 2007 1:00 pm

You have a hit on your hands and you discard it like trash???!!! Like a previous person observed, I can’t believe you don’t have room in your line-up for 4 great shows! You could cut back on some of your Law & Order marathons to make room for Saved!

me's avatar 31. me - June 11, 2007 12:34 pm

you cant just end a showe like that, you cant let it stay like that, at least come back for one more show because i want to know what happens with his “ex” girlfriend……. you cant leave it like that—- its just wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

Mel's avatar 32. Mel - June 12, 2007 8:05 pm

Wait just a minute…..how can they not bring SAVED back? It was an amazing show. I loved the characters and the storylines…..my daughter and I faithfully watched and Saved gave us a reason to look forward to Summer television!!!! This is just so wrong…..I am so disappointed. If I didn’t also love The Closer so much I would boycott TNT for making this stupid unbelievable choice. C’mon people it is a quality show!!!!!!

G's avatar 33. G - June 13, 2007 6:05 pm

Oh, come on! I have been looking forward to the return of SAVED! It is a great show – witty, funny and a little reality thrown in as well. I agree with BWB – stop showing so many re-runs. Just give Saved a different time slot if necessary.

D's avatar 34. D - June 14, 2007 10:03 pm

Maybe some other network should pick up Saved. that would be sweet. How the hell can the closer win all these awards? I read a bunch of reviews calling Saved cliched and boring. I can’t believe it. I thought it was both interesting and at least fairly original. If you want to talk about a show with too many cliches and boredom look to the closer. I mean seriously, it has to be one of the worst crime dramas out there. Please bring saved back

GA_Medic's avatar 35. GA_Medic - June 17, 2007 8:26 am

SAVED cancelled? You’ve got to be kidding me… This is the best thing that happened to the EMT/Paramedics tv wise. TNT you’re a bunch of idiots! You suck, your other programing sucks and you’ve lost me and my family as viewers. I’m a Paramedic and actually enjoyed Saved… It’s not often medical professionals enjoy medical shows but my friends, co-workers and myself actually loved Saved. TNT, wow… YOU SUCK!

L. Olena's avatar 36. L. Olena - June 18, 2007 2:33 pm

CANCELLED? what? why are all the amazingly written shows axed after only a VERY short time? there has to be a better system out to determine ratings, because everyone I talk to LOVE the shows that always get yanked from the networks…it’s awful!!! And then the networks expect channel loyalty…hmmm

Sara's avatar 37. Sara - June 18, 2007 10:05 pm

I can’t believe it…another good show canelled. I have been searching for the beginning of the second season to begin and could not find it so I googlled it and found that it will not be returning. I would love to know how the networks get their viewer ratings because it seems to me that all of us viewers don’t have a say!!! Come on TNT…it was actually nice to have an original show with original story lines…different then all the other shows. What a big disappointment.

I echo what everyone said above about being SHOCKED that this show isn’t coming back this season. I just LOVE how these stations run ads for the show DURING the first season about it being America’s most loved new show, etc… and then cancel it. I do understand the “numbers” have to be there for a show to continue… but that still doesn’t make me any less frustrated. I get my hopes up that a show I really enjoy will finally be picked up… but nope… gone again! (I was pissed when Invasion didn’t get picked up either (different network)… that show was awesome!)

I’ll be anxious to see if the new Holly Hunter show is good (love her)… but come on… we’ve already seen Treat Williams as a doctor on Everwood… it’s been done and was boring the first time. He’s a good actor… but shake things up a bit TNT.

Here’s to hoping somebody else will pick up Saved.

jon's avatar 41. jon - June 20, 2007 7:13 pm

Here I’ve been wondering where my other great TNT show had gone to and now I find out you guys canned it. What were you thinking? SAVED was a VERY good show. You nix it in hopes that GRACE and HEARTLAND will fare better? PLEASE! GRACE might be okay but I’m so sick of the doctor dramas which ARE SO OVER. Geez…how many incarnations is in going to take before you realize that HOUSE rules, everything else sucks. My bet is that HEARTLAND will a) bomb…yea! and, b) do worse in the ratings then SAVED did (that’s my hope). You should’ve given SAVED another year. It would’ve come around. I hope another network picks it up and it takes off…in your face TNT!

Oh, and I can tell you the ONLY thing I’ll be watching Monday night is THE CLOSER. Period. I’m passing on the other two just because you pissed me off.

A SAVED fan and proud of it…

Mark's avatar 43. Mark - June 23, 2007 1:19 pm

TNT, I would like to thank you for the cancellation of Saved after the first season. Your reason for canceling the show, “insufficient ratings” has inspired me. Therefore, when I buy my next brand new car and I receive a flat tire in the first month of owning it, I’m going to immediately sale it! Furthermore, if my children ever receive low (ratings), no I’m sorry I meant grades, I’m going to most likely give them up for adoption.

Being a paramedic, I was enthusiastic when Saved began and possibility of the show enlightening the public on what EMT’s/Paramedic’s actually do. I must say, it did quite a decent job due to the fact that I actually had patient’s that I was treating say they loved the show and find what medics do interesting and amazing! Point being, the show was enabling civilians to view medics in a new perspective. Even today in the 21st century, we are referred to as “ambulance drivers.” The only way to change the public’s point of view is to educate them! But I suppose it is all about politics isn’t it? So what is the solution, maybe as others have suggested a new series on Doctors and how they save the world? Perhaps another show about detectives and how the solve 18th century murders? No, I got it! Astronauts, you could do a show on astronauts! My goodness what a drama, the everyday stress encountered by astronauts as they train to fly on a self piloted space shuttle for another pointless mission to the moon!

Lastly, I’m sure the TNT corporation goes by the motto, “ratings never lie,” but I can assure you that you’ve pissed off a large quantity of people, which I’m sure doesn’t bother you whatsoever. Look it, you had a decent show with decent ratings that decent people liked to watch, but you sold out on the possibility of making more money with another show! Wise financial decision some people would argue, I say bad move and I promise you, your Saved fans will not forget it. Good day, and I hope you future shows do horrible.

I agree with everyone else. I have been waiting for months for “Saved” to come back. Then seeing commercials for these new shows to come on after the Closer. Those new shows won’t make it. TNT got rid of a good show when they canceled “Saved” after just one season. Worse shows have lasted alot longer than just one season. What were you thinking. “Saved” should have been given a chance. They need to get rid of Grace and Heartland. They don’t hold a candle to “Saved”. I am glad to see “The Closer” coming back. At least you made one good choice.

My wife and I really enjoyed the show Saved. Heartland can’t compare. We’ve watched Heartland from the begining because of the lack of any good summer time TV viewing.but Saved was much better. You’ve made a mistake TNT.

Keri's avatar 49. Keri - July 30, 2007 5:54 pm

Ya know.. I could of cared less to watch The Closer. As a matter of fact, my TV was set to record every episode of Saved that came on. Watching The Closer gave me a headache. These other shows they have chosen to replace Saved with SUCK!

Said in a few threads above this.. there are other shows that have been crappy and they allowed them to go on for longer then one season. Maybe putting it on behind The Closer wasn’t a good idea, who knows. But as for myself, I’d of much rather watched Saved then The Closer.

I wanna know if Wyatt and Alice end up together or not. I want to know if Sack lives or dies. I want to know if Harper is broken of his “grew up in the closet’ ways. I want to know if the relationship between Wyatt and his father improves or worsens. I want to know if Harper decided to help Angela with her request. I want to be able to continue to dislike Kroll..

Why in the world would they leave it hanging like they did. I could care less if they felt the ratings weren’t matching up to The Closer. The Closer was on for a longer time then Saved and it also wasn’t showing so late at night. People do go to bed at reasonable hours that have to work that everyday boring 9-5 kind of shift.. or 7-3 or 8-4 or even people sleeping because of the overnight shifts..
I think if they would have put it on earlier in the day and not worried so much about running re-runs, the show would of proved itself to be alot more successful, then what they gave it credit for.

I don’t even watch TNT anymore. I’ve turned my back to Charmed and ER and other favorite shows that I’ve had on that channel because they weren’t willing to give something good a chance. They turned their backs on it.

I didn’t read the above comments past the fiirst few. I really miss the show. The charactors were complex, original, evolving and engaging. The relationships developed in subtle and not always predictable ways. The plot lines were by turns interesting, excitng, enlightening and sometimes just really really funny. PLEASE bring this show back. We miss everyone.

Dave's avatar 51. Dave - July 31, 2007 3:13 pm

‘Saved’ was an excellent show. It is really hard to create new shows of that caliber. They did it and it got the ax. Too bad all TNT can do is show 4 hours of Law and Order everynight.

Clark's avatar 52. Clark - August 5, 2007 6:00 pm

Wow, I still can’t believe this show got cancelled. Saved and 24 are the only two shows that are worth watching on TV IMO. After these two shows flop maybe they’ll bring Saved back. Hopefully when they do so Tom Everett Scott will gouge them for a huge contract.

What the hell kind of name is “Treat” anyway? I think I’ll call him Snack Williams…….

Jason's avatar 53. Jason - August 7, 2007 10:07 am

I agree with everyone here…if you go to TNT.tv and look at their forums under “other series” you will see a lot of posts talking about Saved and how the fans want to bring it back. I say release it on DVD and watch how much money TNT will make off it in sales….but TNT won’t do that because they don’t want to admit they are wrong.

Make sense…so everyone check out the TNT website, go to the forums page, click on ‘other series” and talk about Saved. What else can we do? :-(

I hope you or another network can pick it up, shake it off and put it back on the air. Keep the actors that started on it too. It gives us that do that job a little credit. Thanks for putting it on the air even if it was only for one season.
