CBS sneaks by ABC in households and viewers while ABC settles for 1st in adults 18-49 as “Criminal Minds” beats “Lost” head-to-head. “The Rich List” opens with a very poor performance.


CBS finished in first place with a 9.1/14 HH rating (14.39M viewers), and was second in adults 18-49, delivering a 4.4/12 rating in that demo.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 9.5/15 HH rating [#2]
    • 14.73M viewers [#2]
    • 4.3/11 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Jericho” (6.1/9 HH rating, 9.96M viewers, 3.1/8 A18-49 rating) experienced its first real substantial decline from its premiere, going down in households and viewers from the week prior. Then again, Adults 18-49 stayed pretty much even from the week before, so it wasn’t all bad.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 6.8/11 to 6.1/9
      • Viewers – 10.54M to 9.96M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.1/8
  • At 9:00 PM, “Criminal Minds” (10.7/16 HH rating, 16.74M viewers, 4.9/12 A18-49 rating) continues its great run, beating “Lost” in households and viewers, and by a pretty large margin (8% in households and 620,000 viewers). It also posted a high in adults 18-49, but it still still quite a ways to go before it catches “Lost” in that category.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 10.9/16 to 10.7/16
      • Viewers – 16.59M to 16.74
      • A18-49 – 4.4/11 to 4.9/12
  • At 10:00 PM, “CSI: NY” (10.6/18 HH rating, 16.48M viewers, 5.3/15 A18-49 rating) lost viewers week-to-week, but held onto most of its lead-in’s audience and increased its adults 18-49 by about 8% from its lead-in.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 11.0/18 to 10.6/18
      • Viewers – 17.06M to 16.48
      • A18-49 – 5.4/15 to 5.3/15

ABC followed in second place for the evening with a 9.0/14 HH rating (14.00M viewers) and was first in adults 18-49, delivering a 4.7/13 rating in that demo.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 9.6/15 HH rating [#1]
    • 14.89M viewers [#1]
    • 5.0/13 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Dancing with the Stars: Results Show” (12.8/20 HH rating, 19.21M viewers, 4.9/13 A18-49 rating) dipped a little from the week prior, but had no problem at claiming the crown for most watched program on the night.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 13.2/21 to 12.8/20
      • Viewers – 19.86M to 19.21M
      • A18-49 – 5.1/14 to 4.9/13
  • At 9:00 PM, “Lost” (9.8/15 HH rating, 16.12M viewers, 6.6/16 A18-49 rating) lost head-to-head with “Criminal Minds” in both households and viewers, with “Lost” losing audience from the week prior while its competition gained. “Lost” still holds a good lead in adults 18-49.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 10.4/16 to 9.8/15
      • Viewers – 16.80M to 16.12M
      • A18-49 – 6.9/17 to 6.6/16
  • At 10:00 PM, “The Nine” (4.6/8 HH rating, 6.68M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating) once again hit another low. Fewer than 7M people watched the series last night as it experienced declines across the board (11.5% in households, 17% in viewers and 16% in adults 18-49).
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 5.2/9 to 4.6/8
      • Viewers – 8.02M to 6.68M
      • A18-49 – 3.1/8 to 2.6/7

NBC finished in third place with a 4.4/7 HH rating (6.50M viewers), and a 2.6/7 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 4.9/8 HH rating [#3]
    • 7.41M viewers [#3]
    • 2.9/8 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • At 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, “3o Rock” (3.3/5 HH rating, 4.83M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) and “Twenty Good Years” (2.9/4 HH rating, 4.24M viewers, 1.5/4 A18-49 rating) drew poor audiences after a slight uptick last week.
    • Week to Week Numbers (“30 Rock”):
      • Households – 3.9/6 to 3.3/6
      • Viewers – 6.01M to 4.83M
      • A18-49 – 2.1/6 to 1.8/5
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“Twenty Good Years”):
      • Households – 3.6/5 to 2.9/4
      • Viewers – 5.40M to 4.24M
      • A18-49 – 2.0/5 to 1.5/4
  • At 9:00 PM, “The Biggest Loser” (5.1/8 HH rating, 7.84M viewers, 3.3/8 A18-49 rating) was NBC’s best performer on the night in viewers and adults 18-49 growing very nicely out of its weak lead-in.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 5.1/8 to 5.1/8
      • Viewers – 7.86M to 7.84M
      • A18-49 – 3.4/9 to 3.3/8
  • At 10:00 PM, “Dateline NBC” (5.2/9 HH rating, 7.12M viewers, 2.7/8 A18-49 rating) was NBC’s top show in households for the night, but did shed households, viewers and adults 18-49 from the week prior.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 6.0/10 to 5.2/9
      • Viewers – 8.66M to 7.12
      • A18-49 -3.2/9 to 2.7/8

FOX followed in fourth for the evening with a 3.7/6 HH rating (5.76M viewers) and a 2.1/5 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 3.8/6 HH rating [#4]
    • 5.52M viewers [#4]
    • 2.0/5 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • At 8:00 PM, the returning from hiatus “Bones” (4.7/7 HH rating, 7.38M viewers, 2.7/7 A18-49) didn’t lose much from its last newly aired episode.
    • Episode-to-Episode Numbers (10/4/2006):
      • Households – 5.2/8 to 4.7/7
      • Viewers – 8.10M to 7.38M
      • A18-49 – 2.8/8 to 2.7/7
  • At 9:00 PM, the premiere of “The Rich List” (2.8/4 HH rating, 4.14M viewers, 1.5/4 A18-49) got off to a terrible start. As you can see below, compared to the previous time-period occupant, the declines are pretty substantial (38% in households, 2.91M viewers and 44% in adults 18-49).
    • Week-to-Week Numbers for the timeslot (“Justice” – 9/27/2006):
      • Households – 4.5/7 to 2.8/4
      • Viewers – 7.05M to 4.14M
      • A18-49 – 2.7/7 to 1.5/4

The CW finished in fifth for the evening delivering a 2.3/4 HH rating (3.46M viewers) and a 1.6/4 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Number’s:
    • 3.0/5 HH rating [#5]
    • 4.52M viewers [#5]
    • 2.1/5 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • At 8:00 PM, “America’s Next Top Model” (2.9/5 HH rating, 4.42M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating) had an unusual decline, shedding 22% of its households, 1.06M viewers and 22% of adults 18-49 from just the week prior.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 3.7/6 to 2.9/5
      • Viewers – 5.48M to 4.42M
      • A18-49 – 2.7/8 to 2.1/6
  • At 9:00 PM, a repeat “One Tree Hill” (1.7/3 HH rating, 2.50M viewers, 1.2/3 A18-49 rating) did about as much as should be expected from a repeat on The CW.
