Broadcast Evening News Ratings for 10/2 to 10/6 October 9, 2006 9:38 pm

NBC finishes in first, followed by ABC and then CBS. Both NBC and ABC increased from last week in total viewers and the key A25-54 demo, while CBS decreased in both categories.

CBS is still up nearly 20% from its average last season, while NBC and ABC are down in the single digits.

Here are the average ratings for the week of October 2nd to the 6th (based on preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research):

NBC – Nightly News with Brian Williams

  • 8,562,000 Viewers (+0.387M viewers)
  • 5.8/12 HH Rating (+0.1 point)
  • 2.2/9 A25-54 Rating (+0.1 point)
  • 1.6 A18-49 Rating

ABC – World News with Charles Gibson

  • 7,966,000 Viewers (+0.404M viewers)
  • 5.6/12 HH Rating (+0.3 points)
  • 2.2/9 A25-54 Rating (+0.2 points)
  • 1.6 A18-49 Rating

CBS – Evening News with Katie Couric

  • 7,038,000 Viewers (-0.454M viewers)
  • 5.0/10 HH Rating (-0.3 points)
  • 1.9/8 A25-54 Rating (-0.2 points)
  • 1.4 A18-49 Rating
