According to “a person familiar with the matter” (as reported by TV Week), USA Network has renewed both its freshman Dramedy “Psych”and its long running Sci-Fi/Supernatural series “The Dead Zone”.

“Psych” proved to be a compatible lead-out for fan and critical favorite “Monk”, debuting with a very strong 6.2M viewers, before slowly dropping to an average of 5.1M viewers.

Its strong performance during the summer months pretty much guaranteed its renewal. “The Dead Zone” on the other hand was probably a more difficult decision for USA to make. The series averaged a solid, though not outstanding, 2.8M viewers, down from the a high of 4.3M viewers during its first season.

The renewals are said to be 16 episodes for “Psych” and 13 episodes for “The Dead Zone”.

This means that all of USA Networks Summer shows (The 4400, The Dead Zone, Monk and The 4400) have been renewed for another season.

New episodes (the remainder of season 1) of “Psych” return in January of 2007, while new episodes of “The Dead Zone” (Season 6) return next Summer.
