TV Land renews The Exes for second season

TV Land has picked up its hit original sitcom, “The Exes,” for a second season, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “The Exes,” written by “Frasier” scribe Mark Reisman, stars critically-acclaimed actors Donald Faison (“Scrubs”), Wayne Knight (“Seinfeld,” “Hot In Cleveland”), David Alan Basche (“The Starter Wife”), Kelly Stables (“Two and a Half Men”) and Kristen Johnston (“3rd Rock From The Sun”).

Hot In Cleveland averages season-high 2.4 million viewers

On the heels of two Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Betty White, “Hot In Cleveland” averaged over 2.4 million total viewers at 10 PM ET/PT, up +22% over prior week, according to Nielsen. Additionally, the series scored a 1.0 rating with A25-54, up +22% versus prior week and posted a 1.5 rating with Women 25-54, up +31% from last week.

TV Land renews Happily Divorced for second season

TV Land announced today that it has picked up its original sitcom “Happily Divorced,” starring and co-written by Fran Drescher, for a second season with 12 new episodes tentatively scheduled to premiere in Spring 2012. Drescher shared the news with the Fran Fans on TV Land’s “Happily Divorced” Facebook page. “Happily Divorced,” inspired by Drescher’s own life, also stars acclaimed actors John Michael Higgins (“Best in Show”), Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”), Rita Moreno (“OZ”), Robert Walden (“All The President’s Men”) and Valente Rodriguez (“George Lopez”). According to Nielsen, “Happily Divorced” is averaging over 2.2 million total viewers, a 1.0 among A25-54 and a 1.3 among W25-54 season-to-date, posting triple digit gains over the network’s primetime average.

TV Land developing Hot In Cleveland spin-off with Cedric The Entertainer

TV Land is developing a sitcom with renowned comedian/actor Cedric the Entertainer, it was announced today by network president Larry W. Jones. The series is currently set to be a spin-off of TV Land’s hit original sitcom, “Hot in Cleveland,” which stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparableBetty White. The spin-off revolves around a character that Cedric will originate in new episodes of “Hot” (premiering this summer) in which he will play a minister who finds himself involved in the four ladies’ latest humorous adventures.

“We’re definitely going to bring people quality entertainment and laughs with this new show,” said Cedric. “I’m very excited to be working with TV Land and the creative team of ‘Hot in Cleveland.’”

TV Land renews Retired At 35, Extends Hot In Cleveland’s 3rd season order and greenlights three new sitcoms

TV Land announced today that the network is moving forward with three sitcoms – two new series and a renewal for “Retired at 35.” These series join “Hot In Cleveland” which is now up to a 24 episode order for season three. These pick-ups take TV Land from zero to four scripted sitcoms within less than a year’s time, along with several additional sitcoms in development.

The two new series joining the network’s roster are “Happily Divorced” marking Fran Drescher’s (“The Nanny”) return to television joined by John Michael Higgins (“Best in Show”), Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”) and Rita Moreno (“West Side Story”) as well as “The Exes” (working title) starring Donald Faison (“Scrubs”) , Wayne Knight (“Seinfeld,” “Hot In Cleveland”), David Alan Basche (“Law And Order,” “The Starter Wife”) and Kristen Johnston (“3rd Rock from the Sun”). Additionally, TV Land has renewed its hit sitcom “Retired At 35″ starring George Segal, Jessica Walter and Johnathan McClain for a second season. ”Happily Divorced,” “The Exes” and “Retired At 35″ are all picked up for 10 episodes each. ”Happily Divorced” is slated to premiere June 15th along with new episodes of “Hot In Cleveland.” ”The Exes” and “Retired At 35″ will premiere next winter.

John Travolta and Welcome Back, Kotter cast to reunite at TV Land Awards 2011

John Travolta will be on stage with the cast of Welcome Back, Kotter at the TV Land Awards 2011 to honor the comedy’s 35th Anniversary.

The ceremony will air on TV Land on April 17, 2011, although it will be taped April 10 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

TV Land renews Hot in Cleveland for third season

TV Land announced today that its smash hit sitcom, “Hot In Cleveland,” will return for a third season with 22 episodes to begin shooting this summer. The sitcom, which garnered unprecedented ratings not only for the network but across cable, continues to be a huge success scoring a strong 1.6 among TV Land’s target Adults 25-54 audience, a 2.0 among Women 25-54 and an average of 3.2 million total viewers. The sitcom remains the highest-rated and most-watched series in the history of the network and was recently nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards® including: Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series – Betty White, which Ms. White won.

Mary Tyler Moore to guest-star on Hot in Cleveland

Mary Tyler Moore will re-unite with her “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” co-star Betty White for a guest-spot on the TV Land comedy Hot in Cleveland. She’ll appear in the season two premiere, scheduled for January 19, 2011.

Hot In Cleveland renewed for second season

TV Land has picked up its hit original scripted sitcom Hot in Cleveland for a second season. Production on 20 new episodes will begin in October 2010 with a launch tentatively scheduled for January 2011.

“We are so excited that ‘Hot in Cleveland’ was embraced by viewers in such a big way,” said Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “We absolutely love the show and can’t wait to see what hilarious new experiences these characters will encounter in the next 20 episodes.”

TV Land greenlights first original sitcom series, Hot in Cleveland

TV Land has given a greenlight to Hot in Cleveland, the network’s first original sitcom series.  Hot in Cleveland was picked up for 10 episodes and will premiere this June.  It stars Jane Leeves, Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli and Wendie Malick.

“Hot in Cleveland” revolves around three fabulous, LA women of a certain age and best friends (Bertinelli, Leeves and Malick).  Their lives are changed forever when their plane – headed for Paris – unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new “promised land.”  Loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented, played by Betty White.
