Bruce Miller replacing Ira Steven Behr as showrunner of Syfy’s Alphas

Bruce Miller (“Eureka”) will join the second season of the Syfy original series Alphas as executive producer/showrunner. Miller replaces Ira Steven Behr who is leaving the show after running the first season.

Alphas concluded its first season this past Monday and was renewed for a second season last month.

Syfy greenlights new reality series Dream Machines + Renews Hollywood Treasure and Haunted Collector for seconds seasons

Syfy is ramping up its original reality programming slate for 2012 by picking up the new one-hour series, Dream Machines, for six episodes. Syfy has also ordered a six-episode second season of Hollywood Treasure and a 12-episode second season of Haunted Collector. All three series are expected to air during the second quarter of 2012.

Syfy’s new reality series Paranormal Witness debuts to 1.26M viewers

Syfy’s new reality series Paranormal Witness uncovered 1.26 million total viewers, 716,000 Adults 18-49 and 726,000 Adults 25-54, while averaging a 1.0 HH rating during its debut on Wednesday, September 7 from 10-11PM (ET/PT).

Syfy renews Alphas for second season

Syfy’s new super-powered original drama series Alphas, featuring a team of superhuman investigators, will be returning for a second season, it was announced today by Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. Syfy is ordering 13 episodes of the breakout scripted summer hit from series producers Universal Cable Productions and BermanBraun Television to air in 2012.

Syfy has confirmed Deadline’s report that they’ve renewed Eureka for a six-episode sixth season, but disputes reports that it will be the show’s final run. Speaking to EW, Syfy’s head of programming Mark Stern said:

Syfy’s Eureka gets animated this December for a Holiday-themed episode

Syfy’s hit series Eureka gets an animated makeover this December for a special holiday themed episode, proving that indeed anything is possible in the town of Eureka. In the first-of-its-kind episode, the quaint town of geniuses will be transformed into animated versions of themselves. The stand-alone holiday episode will also feature a stellar line up of guest stars lending their voices to a variety of characters – Jim Parsons, Chris Parnell, Matt Frewer and Edward James Olmos. The airdate for the holiday episode will be announced at a later date.

The magic of Merlin will return to Syfy! The channel has acquired the fourth season of Merlin from FremantleMedia Enterprises, it was jointly announced today by Chris Regina, Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, and FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Season Four of Merlin will premiere on Syfy in 2012.

Syfy’s Legend Quest series premiere averages 1.18M viewers; Ghost Hunters International season three premiere averages 1.17M viewers

Continuing the ratings success of Syfy Summer Premiere Week, the Wednesday, July 13 series premiere of Legend Quest and the third season return of Ghost Hunters International powered ratings up 19 percent among Adults 18-49 and 13 percent in Adults 25-54, compared to the previous four week 9-11PM (ET/PT) time period.
