Titanic 3D re-release hitting IMAX theatres simultaneous with its wide release on April 4, 2012

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox announced today that James Cameron’s Oscar®-winning film, Titanic will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® 3D format and released for a limited engagement in 149 select IMAX® theatres worldwide. Titanic will open in 79 domestic IMAX theatres simultaneous with the film’s wide release on April 4, 2012 and a total of 70 international IMAX theatres, 63 of which will open on April 4. Additional international playdates will be added as pending bookings are confirmed. Since its initial release on Dec. 19, 1997, Titanic has grossed $1.8 billion globally and remains the second-highest grossing film of all time.

20th Century Fox shifts Titantic 3D to April 4

20th Century Fox has pushed up the release of James Cameron’s Titanic 3D from April 6 to Wednesday, April 4 giving the 3D re-issue a head start on the Easter box office weekend.

The film will now open ahead of the comedy “American Reunion” and action-thriller “The Cold Light of Day”.

Titanic 3D re-release set for April 6, 2012

Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment jointly announced today that James Cameron’s “TITANIC” will be re-released worldwide on April 6, 2012.

The release, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail (April 10th), will present the film in 3D for the first time ever.

Written, directed and produced by Cameron, “TITANIC” is the second highest grossing movie of all time. It is one of only three films to have received a record 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director; and launched the careers of stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Hugh Jackman frontrunner for Fantastic Voyage

Hugh Jackman is reportedly director Shawn Levy’s first choice to star in the James Cameron-produced 3D remake Fantastic Voyage. Levy recently directed Jackman in the upcoming futuristic robot boxing film Real Steel.
