TBS Retakes First Place Among Adults 18-34 in Primetime

TBS is closing out 2010 by reclaiming the title as basic cable’s #1 network among adults 18-34 in primetime. TBS’s extraordinary year included the launch of a new late-night block, a slate of top-rated original sitcoms and strong coverage of the MLB Playoffs.

In 2010, TBS made a landmark move by signing Conan O’Brien to host a new, late-night talk show. CONAN went on to become late-night’s #1 talk show with young adults, while Lopez Tonight enjoyed a strong start in its new midnight timeslot. TBS also launched its first one-hour comedy Glory Daze, which has performed extremely well among adults 18-34, and the sitcom Are We There Yet?, which became basic cable’s #1 sitcom among adults 18-49 and television’s #1 primetime scripted series with young African-American adults. TBS enjoyed continued strength from the network’s two Tyler Perry series, Meet the Browns and House of Payne.

The full press release is included after the jump.

Conan O’Brien announces name of new show…”Conan”

Conan O’Brien has announced that the name of his new TBS late-night show will be…Conan. [via Vulture]

…Show insiders tell Vulture that O’Brien and team pretty much settled on this name weeks ago, but like so many things in Hollywood, choosing a name isn’t always simple. You have to clear the title legally, to make sure nobody else has the rights to it, and that’s even true when the name is your own. For the last few weeks, O’Brien’s army of lawyers and TBS have been doing their due diligence making sure it’s okay to use “Conan” as the show’s title. One stumbling block could have been the Conan the Barbarian franchise, which has included comics, books, films and, in 1997, a short-lived TV series called Conan. But now, it’s clear that all issues have been worked out.

Watch the video reveal, from Conan himself, after the jump.

Conan premieres on TBS on Monday, November 8, 2010.
