CBS and NBC split the night as CBS takes households and viewers, while NBC settles for the prized A18-49 demo. The night’s highest rated program in households and viewers belonged to CBS’s “Criminal Minds”, while the second hour of “The Biggest Loser” took tops in adults 18-49.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with an 8.8/14 household rating and 13.62 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49, the Eye earned a 4.3/12 rating, slightly behind NBC.

  • Last Week:
    • Households –8.0/13 rating [#1]
    • Viewers –12.15 million [#1]
    • A18-49 –3.7/10 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 & 8:30 PM: CBS aired another two episodes of “The King of Queens” (5.8/10 HH rating, 9.08M viewers, 3.1/9 A18-49 rating) & (6.0/10 HH rating, 9.12M viewers, 3.3/9 A18-49 rating). Though the series dipped 9% in households and 8% in viewers from the season premiere the week prior, it’s still is doing a fine job replacing the currently on hiatus “Jericho” and held very firm in the key adults 18-49 demo, dropping only 6%.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.5/11 to 5.9/10
      • Viewers – 9.86M to 9.10M
      • A18-49 – 3.4/10 to 3.2/9
  • 9:00 PM: “Criminal Minds” (10.3/16 HH rating, 16.17M viewers, 4.7/13 A18-49 rating) continues to be one of CBS’s most prized possesions. With the series already securing the plush post Super Bowl slot, this could become an even larger hit for the network.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (11/29/2006):
      • Households – 11.5/18 to 10.3/16
      • Viewers – 17.92M to 16.17M
      • A18-49 – 5.0/13 to 4.7/13
  • 10:00 PM: “CSI: NY” (10.2/17 HH rating, 15.60M viewers, 4.9/14 A18-49 rating) finished off the evening rather nicely for the Eye with a first place performance in households, viewers and adults 18-49 for the time-period. It also showed great lead-out compatibility with “Criminal Minds” as it increased its adults 18-49 audience by 4% over ‘Minds’.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (11/29/2006):
      • Households – 10.6/18 to 10.2/17
      • Viewers – 16.43M to 15.60M
      • A18-49 – 5.2/14 to 4.9/14

NBC followed in second place for the evening with a 7.1/12 household rating and 11.11 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49, the Peacock placed just ahead of CBS with a 4.4/12 rating in the demo.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 5.5/9 rating [#2]
    • Viewers – 8.28 million [#2]
    • A18-49 – 3.2/9 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 PM: The first hour of “The Biggest Loser” (6.6/11 HH rating, 10.35M viewers, 4.0/12 A18-49 rating) kickstarted NBC to a first place performance for the hour in all three categories.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.6/7 to 6.6/11
      • Viewers – 6.87M to 10.35M
      • A18-49 – 2.6/7 to 4.0/12
  • 9:00 PM: The second hour of “The Biggest Loser” season finale (8.3/13 HH rating, 13.07M viewers, 5.4/14 A18-49) continued its impressive half-hour by half-hour gains for second place on the hour behind CBS’s “Criminal Minds” in households and viewers, but a very strong first in adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.2/10 to 8.3/13
      • Viewers – 9.39M to 13.07M
      • A18-49 – 4.0/11 to 5.4/14
  • 10:00 PM: “Medium” (6.5/11 HH rating, 9.92M viewers, 3.7/10 A18-49) slowly peaked back up to its season 3 premiere numbers four weeks ago to end the evening on a high note for the peacock.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.9/10 to 6.5/11
      • Viewers – 8.58M to 9.92M
      • A18-49 – 3.1/9 to 3.7/10

Fox finished in third place for the evening with a 4.6/7 household rating and 7.36 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49 the network earned a 2.6/7 rating, enough for third finish.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 4.3/7 rating [#t3]
    • Viewers – 6.29 million [#3]
    • A18-49 – 2.0/6 rating [#5]
  • 8:00 PM: a new “Bones” (5.4/9 HH rating, 8.62M viewers, 2.9/9 A18-49) was the only new programming for the evening for Fox as they chose to air a repeat of Bones immediately following this episode.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (11/29/2006):
      • Households – 5.3/8 to 5.4/9
      • Viewers – 8.66M to 8.62M
      • A18-49 – 3.1/9 to 2.9/9
  • 9:00 PM: As I noted above, Fox aired a repeat of “Bones” (3.9/6 HH rating, 6.11M viewers, 2.3/6 A18-49 rating) as the network simply was unable to launch a successful new series this fall. Hence the large amount of repeats on the schedule.

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.4/6 household rating and 4.89 million total viewers. The alphabet also placed fourth among adults 18-49 with a 1.6/4 rating in the demo.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 4.3/7 rating [#t3]
    • Viewers – 6.06 million [#4]
    • A18-49 – 2.1/6 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 PM: “Show me the Money” (4.4/7 HH rating, 6.40M viewers, 1.7/5 A18-49 rating) doesn’t appear to be giving to ABC what its title suggests with another average showing for the reality game show.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.9/8 to 4.4/7
      • Viewers – 7.11M to 6.40M
      • A18-49 – 1.9/6 to 1.7/5
  • 9:00 PM: Ahead of its scheduled pulling in just a few weeks “Day Break” (2.7/4 HH rating, 3.90M viewers, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating) didn’t do much to change the opinions of anyone over at ABC about the shows future as it continues to sink.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.2/5 to 2.7/4
      • Viewers – 4.45M to 3.90M
      • A18-49 – 1.7/5 to 1.4/4
  • 10:00 PM: ABC ended the evening with an edition of “Primetime Live” (3.1/5 HH rating, 4.36M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) which managed to increase a smidgen from its lead-in in all three categories but fell considerably from its more respectable numbers the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.6/8 to 3.1/5
      • Viewers – 6.63M to 4.36M
      • A18-49 – 2.7/8 to 1.8/5

The CW was left with only a 1.5/2 household rating and 2.10 million total viewers for a now common fifth place performance. Things were no different among adults 18-49 where the new network finished in fifth with a 1.0/2 rating after a strong showing in the demo just last week.

  • Last Week:
    • Households – 3.4/6 rating [#5]
    • Viewers – 5.24 million [#5]
    • A18-49 – 2.4/7 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 to 10:00 PM: Perhaps The CW should have just aired a normal repeat of ‘Model’ as a special british version of the series “Top Model: British Invasion” (1.5/2 HH rating, 2.10M viewers, 1.0/2 A18-49 rating) flamed out.
    • Week-to-week numbers (the ANTM season finale was last week):
      • Households – 4.3/7 to 1.5/2
      • Viewers – 6.27M to 2.10M
      • A18-49 – 3.0/9 to 1.0/2
