Smallville co-creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have announced that they are departing the CW show at the end of this season.  The duo released an open letter to popular Smallville fansite KryptonSite announcing their plans to depart the series.  “After much heartache and debate we have decided it is time for us to move on,” they say in their letter.  More after the jump.

Universal has released a new trailer for Hellboy II: The Golden Army.  Starring Ron Perlman and Selma Blair and directed by Guillermo del Toro, the film hits theaters on July 11, 2008.  Check out the trailer after the jump.

LatinoReview is reporting that Brendan Fraser has booked the role of Gung Ho in Stephen Sommers’ upcoming big screen live-action adaptation of G.I. Joe.  The part is just a one scene cameo. The site is also reporting that an offer has been made to The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) for the role of Hector Delgado, aka Shipwreck. G.I. Joe hits theaters on August 7, 2009.

The movie poster for the stoner-comedy Pineapple Express has been released.  Seth Rogen, who stars, wrote the film and Judd Apatow will produce.  James Franco also stars. It hits theaters August 8th.  Check out the theatrical one-sheet after the jump.

American Idol propelled Fox to yet another Wednesday night victory along with lead-in The Moment of Truth, which also won its timeslot.

CBS, however, was stronger than usual courtesy returning dramas Criminal Minds and CSI: NY, which held consistent from their last newly aired episodes.

Elsewhere on the evening, NBC and ABC (third and fourth respectively) posted consistent numbers, while The CW’s flagship series America’s Next Top Model, although still down by over a million viewers from the year prior, improved by a noteworthy 550,000/16% among viewers and 12% among adults 18-49 as it crossed the 4 million mark.

NBC today revealed their complete 52-week schedule for the 2008/2009 season, an extensive slate of programming that will take advantage of staggered launches in order to present a year-round commitment to original programming.  New programming includes The Office Spinoff and Knight Rider and more, while returning shows include ER (its 15th and final season), Friday Night Lights, Lipstick Jungle, Medium, Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. “The Office” and New ‘Office’ Spinoff To Get Post Super Bowl Timeslot April 2, 2008 7:16 pm

NBC today announced that the network will use the post Super Bowl slot this season to launch a spinoff series to the the hit comedy The Office.  Immediately following NBC Sports’ Super Bowl XLIII coverage, the network will first present an original episode of The Office, followed by the debut of the new spinoff comedy.  Continue past the jump to read the entire press release.

There was no joking around last night, as Fox easily carried the evening thanks to American Idol and the fourth season premiere of Hell’s Kitchen, which was boosted by a significant 4.39 million/54% among viewers and 54% among adults 18-49 thanks to the American Idol lead-in.

Elsewhere on the evening, ABC and CBS were a competitive second and third, respectively, while NBC was a consistent fourth with another solid outing from Biggest Loser.

As usual, The CW was far back in last place.

ABC and CBS shared honors on Monday night, as ABC was the nights most-watched network (Dancing With the Stars was the most-watched show), while CBS took first place for the evening among adults 18-49 thanks to continued strong numbers from its comedy lineup and CSI Miami.

The most noteworthy performance of the night was The New Adventure of Old Christine which grew an impressive 2.64 million/27% among viewers and 16% among A18-49.

Elsewhere on the evening, original episodes of Deal or No Deal and Medium kept NBC in third, while New Amsterdam saw a modest improvement on Fox (+440,000/7% among viewers and +5% among A18-49).

The CW was far behind in last place.
