CBS announces renewals for 18 primetime shows for the 2012-2013 season

In a move that renews a large portion of television’s #1 primetime lineup, CBS announced today it has picked up 18 returning series for the 2012-2013 broadcast season.

The renewals include four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series and two newsmagazines. The returning shows encompass every night of the week and every hour, many of which are #1 in their time period and some #1 on the entire night.

CBS unveils mid-season 2012 schedule

CBS announced mid-season premiere dates for the new comedy ¡ROB! and the return of the Emmy-nominated reality series Undercover Boss.

¡ROB!, a new comedy starring Rob Schneider as a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family, premieresThursday, Jan. 12 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT). ¡ROB! also stars Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros.

CBS renews The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss

CBS has announced that they’ve picked up new seasons of their hit Sunday night reality series’ The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss. New editions will air during the 2011-2012 season.

CBS renews Undercover Boss for second season

CBS has renewed the hit reality series Undercover Boss for a second season/cycle to air during the 2010/2011 season.  Although the renewal is early, it’s not the least bit surprising given just how impressive the series launched and how consistent it has been in the two episode since that premiere.

Undercover Boss airs Sunday’s at 9:00 p.m. on CBS.

CBS Sets Reality Series Undercover Boss In Post-Super Bowl Slot + Confirms Next Edition of Survivor

In a surprising move, CBS has opted to debut the new reality series Undercover Boss in the plus post-Super Bowl time slot this February [via THR]:

“Boss” follows top executives as they anonymously assume entry-level jobs at their company and receive eye-opening perspectives on how their decisions affect lower-wage employees. Executives from White Castle, 7-Eleven, Hooters, Waste Management and Churchill Downs are on board for the first season.

CBS 2009/2010 Schedule: Orders Eight New Shows; Mentalist to Thursday, Monday Changes + more

CBS released their 2009/2010 schedule today and announced the pickup of eight new shows, four of which are set to premiere this fall (Accidentally on Purpose, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Wife, Three Rivers) and another scheduled to premiere at midseason (Miami Trama, The Bridge, Arranged Marriage, Undercover Boss).

In terms of existing shows, the biggest change is The Mentalist, which will move away from its post-NCIS slot on Tuesday nights (making way for spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles) and will air Thursday night’s at 10:00pm following CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.  Tuesday night will be capped off with new drama The Good Wife at 10:00pm.

Monday nights will get a slight tweak, with The Big Bang Theory moving to the post-Two and a Half Men time slot of 9:30pm and How I Met Your Mother moving up a half-hour to lead off the evening at 8:00pm.  New comedy Accidentally on Purpose will take the 8:30pm time slot.

The only other change in the lineup for existing programs was for Cold Case, which will remain on Sunday night’s but has been pushed back to 10:00pm, making room for new drama Three Rivers.

And finally, the following shows have been confirmed to be canceled: Eleventh Hour, The Ex List, The Unit, Without a Trace and Worst Week.
