First Lady Michelle Obama to guest star on NBC’s The Biggest Loser

The eagerly-anticipated “Biggest Loser” makeover episode is here, and this season, it’s bigger than ever! First Lady Michelle Obama guest stars in a two-part celebration that whisks the contestants away to the White House to reunite with their loved ones, and take part in the show’s first-ever White House workout. The episode will air as two, one-hour episodes on Tuesday, April 3 (8-9 p.m. ET) and Tuesday, April 10 (8-9 p.m. ET).

Broadcast TV Ratings for Tuesday, March 22, 2011

CBS returned to original programming Monday night after three Monday’s of non-original programming and the network finished with a decisive first place finish, beating its closest two competitors combined in viewers and finishing more than 0.5 point ahead of its nearest competitor in the key A18-49 demographic. The network was paced by “NCIS” which led the night in households, viewers and adults 18-49. Spinoff ‘Los Angeles’ was the night’s 2nd highest-rated program, while “The Good Wife” won its 10PM timeslot. Other original programming included “No Ordinary Family” (up across the board, but likely not enough to get it out of cancellation trouble) and the special ‘Best in Film’ on ABC, “The Biggest Loser” on NBC (a consistent solid performer among A18-49 — #3 for the evening) and the poorly performing comedy “Traffic Light” on Fox, which hit new series lows. NBC renews The Biggest Loser, Who Do You Think You Are? and The Sing-Off

NBC issued pickups for three returning alternative series in 2011-12 in “The Biggest Loser,” “Who Do You Think You Are?” and the singing competition series “The Sing-Off.”

The announcement was made today by Bob Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.

“Alternative series such as these three bona fide hits are important not only to their loyal audiences but also as strong components of the NBC schedule,” said Greenblatt. “They are each unique, attention-getting shows with terrific producing and talent auspices, and we’re proud to be associated with them.”

NBC Announces Season Finale Dates

NBC has announced season finale dates for several of their shows, with dates stretching from Monday, May 10th to Tuesday, May 25th.  The finales include Trauma (Monday, May 10, 9:00-10:00 p.m.), Mercy (Wednesday, May 12, 8:00-9:00 p.m.) and the entire Thursday night comedy block: Community (May 20, 8:00-8:30), Parks and Recreation (May 20, 8:30-9:00), The Office (9:00-9:30) and 30 Rock (May 20, 9:30-10:00).

NBC Announces New Mid-Season Schedule

NBC has announced a new mid-season schedule which will take into effect following the conclusion of the Winter Olympics. Plus The Biggest Loser premieres its new season on Tuesday, January 5th (8:00-10:00 p.m. ) while the fourth season finale of Heroes is set for Monday February 8th.  Some highlights:

  • Parenthood debuts on Monday, March 1st (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
  • The Marriage Ref debuts on Sunday, March 14th (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
  • The Celebrity Apprentice premieres on Sunday, March 14th (9:00-11:00 p.m.)
