The world’s leading pop culture convention is set to begin in just over a month, and Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) will be back with a Bang at Comic-Con International: San Diego in 2012. CBS announces 2012-2013 primetime schedule

CBS announced today its new 2012-2013 primetime schedule, ordering four new series and making four key time period moves to further enhance television’s top-rated schedule. CBS will finish the season as America’s most-watched network for the ninth time in the past 10 years, leading in viewers by the widest margin of any network in 23 years.

The new series include ELEMENTARY, a contemporary take on the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes in New York City, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu; VEGAS, a drama inspired by a real-life sheriff and his battle with a powerful mobster for control of Las Vegas in the 1960s, starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis; MADE IN JERSEY, starring Janet Montgomery as a smart first-year lawyer with working-class roots practicing at a prestigious Manhattan law firm; and PARTNERS, a comedy about two very different life-long best friends and business partners and their significant others, starring David Krumholtz and Michael Urie.

CBS announces renewals for 18 primetime shows for the 2012-2013 season

In a move that renews a large portion of television’s #1 primetime lineup, CBS announced today it has picked up 18 returning series for the 2012-2013 broadcast season.

The renewals include four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series and two newsmagazines. The returning shows encompass every night of the week and every hour, many of which are #1 in their time period and some #1 on the entire night.

Leonard Nimoy to guest star on The Big Bang Theory

It’s a dream come true for Sheldon when he has a close encounter with his hero, Mr. Spock, on The Big Bang Theory, Thursday, March 29 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Legendary sci-fi icon Leonard Nimoy guest stars, lending his voice to a unique reprisal of his three-time Emmy-nominated “Star Trek” role.

CBS renews The Big Bang Theory for three seasons

CBS and Warner Brothers TV have agreed to a new deal which will keep The Big Bang Theory on the air through at least the 2013-2014 season with a three-year renewal. The deal — for 66 episodes — is reportedly worth more than $4M per episode.

TCA Press Tour 2010: Big Bang Theory creator not concerned about Thursday move

This season, the high-rated CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory is making a move from Monday to Thursday nights.  Creator Chuck Lorre says that’s something for CBS to be concerned about, not him:

TCA 2009: TCA Awards Announced

battlestargalactica-080309Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica was named the program of the year by the Television Critics Association on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, HBO won the the most awards for a network, winning outstanding new program for True Blood, outstanding achievement in movies, miniseries and specials for Grey Gardens and outstanding achievement in news and information for The Alzheimer’s Project.

On the comedy side, CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, which was shut out at the Emmy’s, won for best comedy series and one of the show’s stars, Jim Parsons, won for outstanding individual achievement in comedy.

ABC and CBS Tweak Schedules

ABC is pre-empting Cupid next Tuesday, replacing it with an original episode of The Unusuals, which normally airs on Wednesday’s following Lost.  The move is an attempt by ABC to give the show a bit more exposure (it’ll lead out of a results episode of Dancing With the Stars).

CBS Hands Out Multi-Year Renewals for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory

cbslogo-513CBS and Warner Bros. television have announced a multi-year broadcast agreement for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory.  The agreement renews the Two and a Half Men through the 2011-2012 season and The Big Bang Theory through the 2010-2011 season.  There was news of this development about a week ago.  The full press release follows after the jump.
