DC and WB developing Justice League movie; No connection to Snyder’s Superman or Nolan’s Batman

Warner Brothers executive Jeff Robinov reavaled to the LA Times that the studio is planning a “Justice League” movie for release in 2013:

His most immediate hurdle is filling the void that will be left this summer when the multibillion-dollar “Harry Potter” series shepherded by Horn ends. Robinov is betting on DC Comics characters to take center stage starting in June with the $200-million-plus production “Green Lantern.”

Considering the film would be released just a year after new Superman and Batman projects, it would seem likely they would connected in some way. Not true, says “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder who revealed that the project will exist seperately from his film and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” films: Continue reading DC and WB developing Justice League movie; No connection to Snyder’s Superman or Nolan’s Batman

Christopher Nolan on Superman: “We have a fantastic story” + Talks Batman 3

For the first time since news broke that Warner Brothers had tapped Christopher Nolan to come on board the studio’s Superman project in a mentor/Godfather role, Nolan is talking about the project, telling the LA Times that they have come up with a “fantastic story” for the film:

“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

Update: IGN is reporting that Jonah Nolan will be co-writing the film along with David Goyer.

Original article follows below

Latino Review is reporting that Warner Brothers has hired David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight) to pen the screenplay for the next Superman film The Man of Steel.  Goyer’s take on the project, whose development is being “mentored” by Christopher Nolan, reportedly “takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. FUN!”

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh will not reprise his role and director Bryan Singer is not expected to return.  According to Latino Review, the film will not be an origin story and will involve both Lex Luthor and Braniac:

Christopher Nolan To Mentor Superman Relaunch + Prepping 3rd Batman

Warner Brothers is prepping Superman for a return to the big screen, and they’re tapping Batman Begins / The Dark Knight helmer Christopher Nolan to mentor development of the film, according to Nikki Finke and Mike Fleming of Deadline Hollywood:

Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a “godfather” role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan’s leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office.

Here are more details from their report:

Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn’t be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: “It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns.” Nolan coming on board follows a hiatus period for Superman after that 2006 reboot as the studio tried to figure out whether or not to make a sequel to that version starring Brandon Routh directed by Bryan Singer. As recently as this summer, Warner Bros was still contemplating how to proceed. We were told that “Bryan or Brandon are not completely out of it yet.

More after the jump, including an update on Nolan’s progress with the third Batman film.
