USA vs. France World Cup match fourth most-viewed FIFA Women’s World Cup match ever

The FIFA Women’s World Cup semifinal match between the U.S. Women’s National Team and France – a 3-1 U.S. victory in Moenchengladbach, Germany, on Wednesday, July 13 – was seen by an average of 3.35 million people according to the Nielsen Company, based on a 2.2 U.S. household rating on ESPN (2.57 million household impressions), making it the most-viewed weekday Women’s World Cup match in the U.S.

U.S. – Mexico Gold Cup averages record 954,000 viewers on FOX Soccer

FOX Soccer drew the largest audience in its history during Mexico’s decisive 4-2 defeat of the United States in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final on Saturday, June 25, 2011. According to figures released by Nielsen Media Research, 954,000 viewers watched FOX Soccer’s U.S-Mexico telecast, by far a new FOX Soccer record and the most-watched soccer match on English language cable television since the 2010 World Cup. The telecast more than doubles FOX Soccer’s previous record of 418,000 viewers for this year’s Chelsea vs. Liverpool “Game Before the Game” pre-Super Bowl telecast on February 6, 2011.

Gold Cup Semifinal between Mexico and Honduras reaches 10.9M viewers on Univision

Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that its exclusive coverage of Wednesday night’s Mexico vs. Honduras match – part of the 2011 CONCACAF Copa Oro (Gold Cup) – has broken records as the top primetime sports telecast ever on Univision and third in the history of the network behind the 2010 World Cup final game and the 2010 Mexico vs. Argentina World Cup match. The Mexico vs. Honduras game was the #1 program of the night ahead of every other primetime telecast, regardless of language, among Persons 12-34, Adults 18-34, Men 18-34, Men 18-49. While 10.9 million viewers tuned in to all or part of Mexico’s win, Univision scored another goal over its English-language competition as the most watched primetime network, regardless of language, among Men 18-34 – more than ABC, CBS and FOX combined.

2011 UEFA Champions League Final on FOX Sports is highest-rated and most-watched in U.S. history

FOX Sports Media Group’s coverage of the championship match of the world’s most prestigious soccer club tournament combined on FOX and FOX Deportes to generate a 2.1 household rating and 6 share, drawing an audience of 4.2 million viewers nationally, dwarfing the ratings and audience of a year ago by +75% and +91%, respectively.  The 2010 UEFA Champions League Final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, which aired on FOX and Fox Sports en Español (now FOX Deportes), combined for a 1.2 HH rating with an audience of 2.2 million.
