Smallville casts Deadshot and Hawkgirl

Kryptonsite is reporting that actors have been cast in the roles of Floyd Lawton (Deadshot) and Shayera (Hawkgirl). Deadshot will be played by Bradley Stryker, who had a recent 3-episode stint on Stargate Universe, while the character Shayera/Hawkgirl will be played by Sahar Biniaz.

Braniac will be back for Smallville season 10

The CW renews Smallville for 10th season

The CW today announced that they’ve renewed Smallville for a 10th season.  Although off from its year-ago numbers (in total viewers), Smallville is performing very nicely in its new tough Friday night time slot and has dramatically improved CW’s standing on Friday night over the year prior.  Head on over the jump to read the press release.

The CW Optimistic About 10th Season Chances for Smallville + 6th Season for Supernatural?

The CW president Dawn Ostroff says she is very optimistic about the chances that Smallville gets renewed for a 10th season:

“I’m really pleased with the show,” she says. “Creatively, I think they’ve done a great job. And the ratings are [strong] on Friday night. I have to commend [the producers]… It’s not easy in season 9 to keep a show fresh. And you know what I think? The fans have really liked the show this season.

“I don’t know which way we’ll go,” she continues, “but if you would’ve asked me [over the summer whether it would end this season] I would’ve said, ‘Oh, probably.’ But I can’t say that now.”

Smallville has lost a good chunk of its audience with its move to Friday nights (as expected), but it none-the-less has etched out for itself a decent core audience. Smallville Justice Society Episodes Will Air as a Two-Hour Movie

The CW has decided to package the two Jusice Society-themed episodes “Society” and “Legends” as a two-hour movie event.  The two episodes, penned by comic book writer Geoff Johns and featuring DC Comics characters Stargirl, Hawkman and Dr. Fete, will air on February 5, 2010.

The CW Announces Early Pickups Of Six Series

cwlogo-513The CW today announced that they’ve given early pickups to six of its series, five dramas and reality hit America’s Next Top Model, all of which will return in the fall 2009.

The five other shows are Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Smallville and Supernatural.

“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”
