Robert Zemeckis in talks with WB to direct remake of Wizard of Oz

Deadline is reporting that Warner Brothers is in early talks with Robert Zemeckis to direct a live-action remake of The Wizard Oz.

Interestingly, the plan is to direct the film off the original script for the 1939 classic.

Comic-Con 2009: Walt Disney Announces Lineup; Includes 3-D Panel Details and TRON Plot Synopsis

tron-071009Walt Disney Studios has released their lineup for this year’s Comic-Con and within the press release is a plot synopsis for the upcoming Joseph Kasinski-directed sequel TRON (working title):

TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

The studio also announced its first-ever 3-D panel, with Robert Zemeckis (A Christmas Carol), Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland) and TRON producers Sean Bailer and Steven Lisberger all on hand for the event.  For complete details, head on over the jump to read the press release. Robert Zemeckis On Possible Roger Rabbit Sequel

whoframedrogerrabbit-043009Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released more than 20 years ago and was a huge success for its backers, grossing nearly $330 million worldwide.  There was always talk of a sequel, but one never materialized.  That may change.  Without talking specfics, director Robert Zemeckis told MTV News that “a new idea” for a sequel to the film is “buzzing around” in his head.  Watch the short video clip after the jump. A Christmas Carol Headed to Cannes

Disney will debut footage from the 3D Robert Zemeckis feature A Christmas Carol at a press event at the Festival de Cannes on May 18.  This will be the second Disney 3D film featured at the event, following the studio’s previous announcement that Pixar’s Up would open up the event (see related article).
