Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated film “Iron Man 3,” directed by Shane Black, has commenced production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and China.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,”) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (“Iron Man 2”) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Happy Hogan. Set for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2013, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” marks the second feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Although Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows doesn’t hit theater until this Christmas (December 16, 2011), Warner Brothers is already moving forward with a third installment. According to Deadline, the studio has hired Drew Pearce to pen the script.

Marvel.com has released several character posters for Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated The Avengers. The character posters feature Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).
The Avengers, also starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4, 2012.
The teaser trailer is expected to be released online soon, but you can watch it now by staying put after the end credits of “Captain America: The First Avenger” in theaters now.

Warner Brothers has released the teaser trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The sequel to the 2009 hit returns Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in the title roles with Guy Ritchie directing. Noomi Rapace also stars. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Robert Downey Jr. is no longer attached to star in Sam Raimi’s Oz, the Great and Powerful, the highly anticipated prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Disney is already on the look-out for a replacement, with the studio said to be in negotiations with Johnny Depp to take on the role [Heat Vision | THR]:
