NBC Announces 8 New Shows for 2009/2010 Schedule; Cancels Medium (Moving to CBS) and My Name Is Earl

NBC’s 2009/2010 slate of programming includes nine new shows.  The network picked up four dramas, two comedies and two alternative/reality series: 100 Questions, Day One, Mercy, Trauma, Community, Parenthood, The Jay Leno Show and The Marriage Ref.

The network also officially renewed Chuck which will remain on Monday nights.  In cancellation news, comedy My Name Is Earl won’t be coming back (although producer 20th Century Fox TV is said to be shopping it to other networks) and Medium won’t be coming back to the network’s lineup.  Apparently NBC was only willing to order 13 episodes while producer CBS-Paramount wanted 22.  That gave CBS the opportunity to swoop in and pick up the show.

NBC Announces Portion Of 2009/2010 Lineup

NBC has unveiled a portion of their 2009-2010 lineup, announcing official renewals for Heroes, Southland, Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday (six new episodes), and pickups of four new dramas: Trauma, Parenthood, Mercy and the event series Day One, plus two new comedies: Community and 100 Questions. You can check out the full press release after the jump.

Noticeably absent from the list?  Chuck, Medium, Law & Order and Life.  According to other reports, the first three shows (Chuck, Medium, Law & Order) are expected to eventually be picked up for another season each, but the news is grim for Life, which NBC has officially canceled.

Keep your eyes on the site for all the latest developments (and I expect to update the Television Season page shortly, so be on the look out for that).

Also, head through the jump, to see videos for four of the new shows: Community, Mercy, Parenthood and Trauma. Continue reading NBC Announces Portion Of 2009/2010 Lineup

Other “hot” pilots over at ABC include Happy Town, Eastwick and Inside the Box, while Limelight, V, and the Dave Hemingson project also “looking good”.  ABC’s also looking at last year’s pilot Captain Cook’s Extraordinary Atlas again after the pilot missed the cut in August.

Other highlights that I took from the article follow after the fold. Continue reading ABC’s Fast Forward, CBS’s NCIS Spinoff Among Pilots Generating Buzz
