Michael Shannon cast as General Zod; Amy Adams is Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Superman + Kevin Costner confirmed as Jonathan Kent

Kneel before Zod. Warner Brothers has announced that “Man of Steel” (notice the new official title) director Zack Snyder has settled on Michael Shannon to play the role of Zod in the Christopher Nolan-directed film. The Kryptonian character was memorably played by Terence Stamp in “Superman II”:

Snyder stated, “Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role.”
